Re: Telecom NZ - Upgrade Issues (and fixs)

Hi guys, first time caller, long time listener - Took the plunge and upgraded my Touch with the HTC Touch (Bell) RUU_Vogue_BM_WWE_3.09.666.1_Radio3.42.50_ship.exe and installed OMJ's 3.09.01.Clean ROM, following all the advice regarding the 'HRD An Auth' user and password, and everything seemed to go through fine until I tried to use the phone for calling and sms. Neither work oubound or inbound. Internet works well, as does the GPS but the phone is a 'brick' for calling and txts. When I try and make a call it goes straight to a recorded message saying that the phone may be in the process of being set up and may take 4 hours to complete. This was 48 hours ago and no change. I have checked the MSID and MDN settings and they all appear correct. I called Telecom NZ and they have the correct ESN for the phone also so I am unsure what else to try. Any ideas guys? There must be a setting somewhere that isn't quite right...
Cheers,
Pete.

PS. I tried the upgrade process a second time and have the same issues...

I think bell uses a different method for identifiing the device on the network. I know their txt protocols are different. I would suggest getting the sprint version and loading that (Sprint is identical to Telecom on the network side of things). I am sure that will fix your problems. You will need the full version with radio included.

Cheers

Um...... I've used the same radio ROM, but with the OMJ's Bell customized 3.09.01 ROM. Everything works fine on my Touch.

I would suggest looking for a standalone Telecom NZ carrier cab for the Touch.

Hopefully someone can help!

I have just recently acquired an OKTA Touch (still unsure as to whether it's an upgrade or downgrade from my Titan) and just wanted to confirm a few things.

Firstly, from experience with flashing everything on a few phones, I can confirm that the ROMs you use in from the PPC kitchen will definitely wipe vital settings i.e. HDR password, etc. These ROMs have been "improvised" as to the actual settings. A reflash from Telegistics (the repair company Telecom use) should fix this but it is $85 to have this done as any reflashes/non Telecom stock ROMs will void the warranty on the device. On that note, don't go into Telecom store's playing stupid as it is not the stores that determine whether you will be charged or not so it doesn't matter to them. At worst, they may take a bond which will be refunded depending on whether it is covered under warranty or not (which a reflash will void). Just be honest and let them know what has happened and that you believe that sending it away would be the best option.

Secondly, I believe that the calling/texting issue can be cause by a faulty ROM and would be fixed by reflashing with something else. I had the same problem with my Titan.

Let me know how the GPS and EVDO works after flashing again. Would be interesting to know as I'm still working on mine.

Re: Telecom NZ - Upgrade Issues (and fixs)

The upgrade is really easy to do.. I've done 3-4 ppls phones and haven't had any issues so far *touch wood*

If the other person who was going to write a guide doesn't come through I can post up the steps if you want

Sounds like you let the Bell cutomisations run. You can try loading the Telecom dialer cab (I posted the link way back earlier in this thread), but I don't think that will solve your problem. If you PM me your email address I can send you the screenshots of the correct config and you can manually step through and patch them up. BTW, Bell is actually closer to Telecom's setup than Sprint.
