Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!
i was wondering..i had the touch but swapped to the mogul for personal reason,my touch used to show the battery power in decending percentages(85%,84%,83%.etc.),my mogul is by 10% increments,is there any fix for that, and my battery dies so FAST! thanks in advance

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
I just read through this whole thread. I know the jury is still out on whether there really are variations among phones (i.e. one guy says he can use the phone for 2 hours, WITH BT, while charging, no problem and another guy says after 45 minutes, it stops charging), I am encouraged by the fact that the radio system(s) appear to be incredibly inefficient. Why is that a good thing? Because it's so blatant: anything that inefficient must be operating incorrectly, right? Like a car that should get 20mpg but instead is getting 6mpg - half of the plug wires were pulled off the spark plugs. Anything that far off the industry standard (and whatever that is, is debatable) must have some fundamental flaw that hopefully can be solved by either firmware or a revision to the chipset itself in future models. I am hopeful. But then again, I am not a pissed off TP owner. Just a prospective owner. And I am becoming more and more jaded as time goes on. I know nothing about Smartphones. The closest I have come is an old iPAQ 3970 that I run in my car for nav (HP Navigation) and MP3s. Works great (runs WM2003). But it's not a phone. So when I read about the TP, I was all excited, only to find out A) the price and B) serious teething issues. By jaded I mean each time I get excited and my hopes are dashed, a little bit of the kid in me dies and I am reluctant to become that excited again. I think some of you can relate.

Based on the various devices I have used, this one generates more heat than any other I have owned, and it's battery life is less than optimal for the way that I use it. My expectations, real or not, were for a combination device to perform as efficiently as the individual devices. I was encouraged when I looked at the MSM7xxxx platform, two individual portions, one dedicated to PDA functions, and one to the phone. The stats on the chip indicated that both portions functioned quite efficiently. I have been impressed with the physical hardware, while there are a few items that could be a bit better (the slider mechanism comes to mind) overall it is certainly fast enough (not quite as fast as the Dell Axim x51v). The VGA screen is nice to have especially if you have never had a VGA device before. My only disappointment with this device is the power management. On my previous PDA I had a 1440 mAH battery that would go 4 days with my level of usage (which most would clasify has heavy) and my phone with an 1100 aAH battery would get 4+ days. I expected that I would get about 2 days. Personally I would have been happy with 1 full day (by full day I mean 18 hrs). Getting good battery life the first two days (excellent battery life, only 1 full charge). when I finally transfered all of my PPC items and software to my TP and began using it in ernest, that is when I noticed the heat and short battery life. With my experience with these devices, I know that the issues have to be software related, they just need to be fixed. However, my frustration comes in with the CS. When my customers have software issues, If they don't have fixes within 24 hours something is wrong, i.e. I take their complaints seriously. Now these problems have existed since the Launch of the Diamond almost two months ago, and no fix has surfaced yet. I would not consider that being taken seriously. This is a problem that I am sure will be fixed, and knowing how to work around it until it is fixed, I will be keeping and using the device (it is in the best of PPC's that I have owned). But I will keep pushing for a solution as that looks to be the only way that HTC will get it done. Squeeky wheels do get the grease. ( Couldn't help throwing that on in there...) |

Possibly. Doesn't sound likely, but it could be. I have no issues, and I use the mogul charger.

Personally, I haven't seen any issues. Have you actually gotten new devices? I'm not so sure its a 100% problem on all of them given all the reports of it being fine. It may be a string of bad luck. I went through 5 macbook pros before I got one that didn't have a ****ty screen or noisy fan or other random issue. Sure it sucks, crappy quality control, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do. Go get a new phone and see if that helps. Quote:

I haven't tested long phone calls yet, however with my phone plugged in running wmwifirouter the other day for about a half hour, it worked fine. Wmwifi was reporting 29C temperature when I started it up, low signal area so it was working harder. I popped open the keyboard and use internet through it to do some surfing for about a half hour, afterwards it was reporting a 27C temperature. Maybe I'm just lucky.. |
