Yes, idle they will run cool. However during a phone call, the cellular radio isn't idle, and that is what is generating the heat here.

I haven't tested long phone calls yet, however with my phone plugged in running wmwifirouter the other day for about a half hour, it worked fine. Wmwifi was reporting 29C temperature when I started it up, low signal area so it was working harder. I popped open the keyboard and use internet through it to do some surfing for about a half hour, afterwards it was reporting a 27C temperature. Maybe I'm just lucky..
