now i just gotta figure out how to get back to recovery to try n flash the custom rom lol
Well if you went into recovery then you just have to wipe and flash the custom ROM of your choice. You said you were trying to get to Fresh. Is it on your SD? Then after you factory reset and wipe dalvic cache use Flash zip from sdcard.

Once your ROM is loaded double check you're fully rooted by trying to write to /system or booting into recovery without the PC.
It sounds like you got the recovery.img to go so I think you're all set.

EDIT:Actually you're not. As I'm re-reading this I realized that when you ran the recovery-window batch files you booted into the old recovery NOT the new recovery.img that's on your card.

Heya all.

Rooted and flashed to OMJ, but I have a serious noob question

This is my first android phone, did some research, but not as much as I could have.

What does flashing the eng build for nand protection unlocking get you? I searched and this is probably seriously obvious. Thanks.

It's full root. It allows us to write to /system instead of just /data. It allows for us to add/delete files ourselves (be careful what you mess with) and opens the door so aps2Sd can work. It also allows us to boot into recovery without a PC.

Thanks for the clarification! Aps2sd is a good enough reason to go ahead and do that.

Re: EVO Full Root|Recovery|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Vid

Is there a quick and easy to flash out of the amon-ra recovery back to stock recovery? The story I'm getting at xda is that the amon-ra recovery is what causes error messages when you try and flash certain roms or mods due to some conflict. I've asked but how to go back to stock recovery but I'm not getting any answers over there.

My guess is you'd need to unroot and start over, a bit tedious but in my n00b opinion it's the safest, most direct way, if not "quick and easy"

If my sig isnt in this post use this:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=124158

Gotta ask-are you having issues? I tend to follow "if it ain't broke dont fix it."

Could you post where you saw discussion of the issue? Cant seem to find it.
