Re: Apache WM6.1 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19716 (Build 19716.1.0.0) - UPDATED 20080308
I was trying to download the installer but kept getting an error when I tried to run it. Then I noticed every time I downloaded it, the file size got bigger... I guess it's getting updated again?

Hmm.. You guys were doing great already; who are you trying to impress.. HTC? Microsoft?
You should be getting awards for what you are doing for the community, not threats.. Keep up the great work.. BTW, anyone that is on the fence about upgrading, you don't know what you are missing. I feel really bad for those who are still on the WM5 ROM, let alone the stock ROM. HTC and the Carriers should have updated out phones, a long time ago... Glad we have great people like those from ppcgeeks and XDA, who works together to bring us great tools to make our phones better. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm scared!
![]() I bought my Sprint PPC6700 about 2 months ago and have been playing around with different applications and reg hacks - but I've been afraid to make the jump to WM6. I downloaded everything and now I'm going thru the BuildOS - WOW what a selection! I'm not sure what to install and what to leave out... does any body have an Idiots Guide? |

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...hlight=Kitchen The simple suggestion is to choose a bare minimum to start with. This will minimize errors and get you familiar with the process. Once you are comfortable with the process you'll probably want to try adding in selections to try new apps, OEMs and the like. I would personally suggest running OEMizer (in the tools menu) and set up your personal OEM as a first thing to do. Once that's done pick thru the apps you want to include and run Build OS.

This is what I reccommend.. All the office, so that is Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Onenote, and a PDF viewer. Next, you'll want some kind of program, that will close the applications, like HTC Task Manager. Select the Additional Sounds, and Skins; they don't take up any space, since you are going to be making a pretty light ROM, and are just inside the ROM. Don't just think that this will be your last "flash"; you may want to set aside about an hour, and make your first one, like I said, and nothing else. Then, slowly add/remove as you woud like. That is the best way to build your own ROM. |

Oh, and make sure you select HTC Camera, or you won't get your camera to work. It needs the software, in order to run.
Another thing that I thought of, is, have fun. ![]() |

Re: Apache WM6.1 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19716 (Build 19716.1.0.0) - UPDATED 20080308
When I create the ROM and load it, will I loose all apps on my PPC currently? I know the answer is probably yes, but just checking. So after that I will have to reinstall my current apps that I want ot keep.

All those apps in program memory will be gone. You'll have to reinstall those apps that need to be installed in order to work but apps saved to your storage card will still be there(BTW remove the card before you flash!)
