Welp, WinMoSpeed WRECKED my phone. My beautiful phone. It didn't do any permanent damage, but every time it's running, even if I have a very mild overclock, eventually the home tab becomes unresponsive. I can only press the hardware Start button to get anything to happen. When the home tab is supposed to come back, I have a frozen image of the screen just before it. Screw it, it was working just fine without OC. I'll just live with it.

All I could suggest is to do a hard reset and clear everything else. It doesn't appear that it's a hardware issue but a software one. It's a pain to set it all up the way you like it but it might be necessary.
I haven't had a problem with my WinMoSpeed ever but mine is only at 691 to give it a little bigger push than stock. Didn't want to go too high and risk bricking the stupid thing

It's no secret I'm not a big fan of winmospeed... don't get me wrong, when messing with droid, it's the best, push a 528 link/icon & push droid icon.. done! Easy for sure, simple, easy to explain, etc..

If you don't have any issues, USE IT! But I've seen quite a few, and strongly suggest a ton of these issues are related not to the ROM/cookie 2, instead to wimospeed. 1st thing i'd suggest if your having locking, sod (sleep of death), random reboots, etc.. is TAKE IT OUT OF WINDOWS\STARTUP, and test it without!

Every time I put it in my phone goes NUTS! Random everything above at all speeds... YES it could be simply that it's not playing well with other startup files or cabs I have installed... NO I haven't run it by itself with no installed cabs.. why should I? Simply switch it with setcpuspeed.lnk in the startup & everything is perfect! when I mess with droid more again soon, will probably do that...

Old trick: put the wimospeed .lnk file on your SD card (still have the program installed to the main memory). So, the .lnk in windows\startup calls storage card\wimospeed.lnk, which calls \program files\wimospeed\wimospeed.exe... that way if you lock up on startup, simply pop out your SD card & it won't start wimospeed and freeze you out of your tp2.

I can't for the life of me understand what's so hard about installing msm7kcpuspeed_v2.cab & setcpuspeed01d! Use setcpuspeed.cab to setup the OC msm7k does. It's easy, run it & choose: 729, 604,50 done. it'll put itself in windows\startup, reboot. 729 OC, 604 @ rest, 50 refresh. SAFE & takes about 1 min todo! again, try to call your setcpuspeed.lnk from \storage card

powinmo post a lengthy statement about wimospeed a week ago, in which could be oversimplified & summed up as saying it won't OC (OverClock) as high as others... hmmmmm, well... that is why I use it & I want the highest OC possible.

I find the highest most consistent speeds with msm/setcpu! Just my results, for me it works better... again, if no issues, certainly don't switch!

I believe there are links to DL msm & setcpuspeed in my howto link about 3/4 of the way down if anyone is interested.. it's one of the originals, but still smokes... IMHO

Nope, for some reason this is all I get, popup blocker disabled:

The webpage cannot be found

HTTP 404
Most likely causes:
  • There might be a typing error in the address.
  • If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.
What you can try:

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

Go to and look for the information you want.

More information

This error (HTTP 404 Not Found) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but the page you wanted was not found. It's possible that the webpage is temporarily unavailable. Alternatively, the website might have changed or removed the webpage.

Thanks Teradog. I'll try msm7kcpuspeed_v2.cab. I love the way the ROM is running without the OC, but that little extra was nice (without the glitches, of course).

A tad more info... (also in faq, linked to my howto)
setcpuspeed 01d must be used to automate msm7k. Install both.

Just set it to either 710 or 728 to be safe... I have yet to see one that 710 doesn't work on! Remember to menu, apply at startup @ end of setcpuspeed..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To set max speed (same process as with wimospeed)
(BEFORE installing setcpuspeed)
Go into msm7kcpuspeed & slide it up until it freezes. (stops blinking) It's now froze, use stylus to hit side reset button, do it again one step under that. Exit & browse the web, check weather, etc.. if it freezes again, go one step under that & set it. If not use that speed.
My last tp2 would freeze on 748, my wifes was one step higher
This one I have now 787 currently over 800 before... I even went down to 748 with winmospeed!
Well at least I'm gettin' my post counts up. You guys are awesome, =D> I follow this thread on a daily basis & I'm able to sort out my issues without askin' dumb Q&A's. So I thought I'd try to help back a bit...
Certainly don't want to discourage questions here!! "askin' dumb Q&A's".. even dumb ones.. but here are a few things that may bring on some crap..
* not bothering to read what's post
* having the same question asked (& worse answered) on the same page or 1-2 prior! (don't laugh, it's been done many times)
* not trying
* not reading
* let others know what you've tried & what you haven't..
* not posting your ROM version, best to copy & paste the hotfile link... many will say "dinik" & a date.. but that could be 21xxx or 28xxx, big difference especially when it comes to cookie, sense, etc..
* search this thread
* read the faq
* read the 1st 6 posts
* temper
* lack of patience
If no one answers your Q, wait a day & bump it... and then again... in a day, (make sure it's related to the thread i.e. Energy ROM here..) If it's urgent & your phone doesn't work a couple hours anyway..
If someone suggests reading something, it's pretty easy to tell if that person read it or not based on their next question.
* let people know what you've tried or if you got stuck in a certain process..
I just answered a PM from another thread... the guy did sprint provisioning & now his phone won't work.. then he told me he just got the phone from a friend... & it already had Energy ROM on it... could I help...
Yea, first Q back was how did you get it activated on your account? (or was it ever done) lol
*edit* also, regarding post count.. yours is legit, but mods will come down on non-legit..
Hey, this is copied from wiki:
Does it work for you?
