If you bump the other OC programs to high you get the SOD, not so with winmo.

I found on my phone that set at 748 it flies. Set it at 768 every thing works fine, but it slugs down. Set at 787 it runs like a dog and some of my programs start acting up, most notably my wifi connection. Set at 806 and I get the dreaded SOD.

Point is you got to have a way to find the sweet spot on winmo. I use a 400mg database on my sd card that takes about 15 seconds to load at stock speed. At 748 it takes 8-10, at 768 its back to 15 second, at 787 its over 20 seconds.

So i will stick with winmo and be happy.
"Into the breach" lol! ... no you? :>)) "if it works for you use it"
Absolutely agree the successor out performs it predecessor, but need to point out to others, neither are related to the former, msm7kcpu/setcpuspeed.

To summarize your post: Wimospeed must be run at least 2 levels lower..?!
And, I can run msm/setcpu at least 1 level higher... that's 3 total levels higher.. I'll take it!

Regarding SOD, for me... already documented that SOD happens much faster @ 806.4 for me with wimo as opposed to msm/setcpu.

SPEED TEST

Love the database test! I have a simple favorite... go into total commander & switch to the windows directory, time it. Or, into pictures.

Seems that msm7kcpuspeed at 748 (as OCT and WiMoSpeed) is faster...and i even succeded to set it higher...
EDIT: i also had my 1st SOD

Another interesting thing to try (last night our cousins in the GSM Rhod thread were speaking only about this)

Start Menu Replacement: WINSTART 2.1

[WM 6.x,31-01-2011] WinStart v2.1, New start menu replacement - xda-developers

...
From that thread you can download also the free version WinStartV2.1Free.cab....
Re. SOD: 1st: You should be able to run at least 1 level higher without any issues. For me, the second & 3rd levels above can give SODs (but still a level higher)
There are 2 settings you can either find cabs or change the registry to take care of SOD @ 2 & 3 levels above wimospeed (levels above the beginning of slow down for wimospeed, not wimospeed SOD)
1. Reg tweek the 50 to 20
2. Put in a startup delay
I'll try to find the cabs & add them, think I'll go ahead & add to that original link you post as well, thanks

*edit* can't find the cabs. Regedit hklm\software\msm7kcpuspeed\
boottime 120000
checktime 20 (even lower if you have to)

Re. WINSTART... LOL.. NinjaDuck & I were going back & forth on it in this thread a month ago.. where I recommended it, but everyone was having tons of issues (except me), so it was un-recommended! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-...i-guide-3.html
Good to see they've got the final out! Can you please post the memory footprint MB?! Some of the RC's had issues..

To add to Teradog's comments, make sure you monitor the memory utilization of the GWES process (graphic subsystem) as well as the app itself. The way the author loads the images does not grow the main process, but rather GWES.

Please report back as I liked the product, but could not live with the total memory footprint.

Thank you for your help. I did update the radio to 2.37... and installed Energy Feb. 1. Beautiful!

I also did google opera:config and did the changes as suggested by that site. Well...here it is!

I have to agreed with the guy you've been argued in the last couple days, you had my hope so high!

Hmm....EVERYONE...my 2nd pic is just website error! Don't start PM me on how I got it.

Anyhow, the speed is based on the connection bars. Someday, it range from 200-600 kbps.

My opera:config and IE config changes does NOTHING to the speed.

...................................

Ok, my question, my husband has TP2 also. I did not mod his phone ...yet... so I was comparing his to my newly TP2 and the connection bars seem to be less on mine than his. Was it because of the Verizon radio 2.37? If so, how do I determine which radio to use? Does all radio work on Energy rom?

Thanks

Great to hear. Flash back to a diff radio & try, let us know. Most of the time PRL is responsible for that as it'll ensure you have the latest list of Sprint towers as well. Would be very surprised if an older PRL gave better reception.. try it & let us know.
Testing using bars is probably not real accurate.. fieldtrial

Gotta let that other stuff die already, anyone that thinks it's possible to get 3 times the speed of 4g on a 3g phone should be seeking help else where.. not on a computer, sorry! LOL
(I just didn't want to bust NinjaDuck in the chops too bad by decimating & criticizing the speed test site he had just post in the prior post, (he's a big cheese & is more important not to piss off)..:>)) plus, your right it looks cool...! think I'll make it my avatar for a while :>) Hind site is always 20/20, woulda, coulda, shoulda.. That's the last I'll speak of that...

Be very carefull the way you hold the phone..
3rd time i've post on this, but worth noting again..
Hold your tp2, cover the top 1/2 of your tp2 your hand letting it rest in the palm, wait 6 seconds (about a 5-10 second refresh time), watch the bars decrease & vise versa, cover only the bottom 1/2, massive difference.
Just make sure you're holding both the same way. I've noticed much less drop when covering with the new radio!

The new radio isn't my original post, it was a while back.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NINJADUCK: i'm going to DL & try the free winstart.
NOTE: WINSTART users..... you already have the startmenu disabled, after running any of NRG's startmenu replacements you should not need to run aerto's cab or the restore x cab or anything... (will test & let you know)
Lots to catch up it seems... I made some wiki updates with approvals from teradog. I am also working on a few mortscripts...
a. device uptime tracker that can retain boot up timestamp history and display it. basically logs a timestamp via a startup script. it's a major rewrite from a mortscript uptime version over at XDA
b. mortscript based quickgps downloader tool. I'm tired of trying to figure out why HTC QuickGPS will not download automatically regardless of settings. I think it's tied to me not having a SIM card on my sprint TP2, and it's happening on almost my active TP2 units in the field. Also the QuickGPS_Lite app over at XDA, the author does not have time to allow it to automate downloads.
This script will have many features, such as being able to select a server, log the results, select a time to always download an update, etc. It is essentially able to completely the replace HTC quickgps app. Since it's a script ANYONE can add new servers, modify, etc anytime - you are no longer bound to some closed source app. This script is based on an older quickgps mscr script over at XDA.
Both scripts are almost done, and I have a cab'ed version of (a). If anyone is interested in beta testing for me, please PM me.
Comstar posted he had this available: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/2051929-post30258.html - you may want to PM (and thank) him if you need it in a jiffy.
If he was sent a GSM TP2, that will not help with any CDMA specific issues we are having. Though other issues seem to be shared regardless of sub model. Here's hoping some of those items finally get knocked out
- Ok, I DL Nina Tool 1.3 cab. Does this tool update PRL or the radio version also? I clicked on PRL, it ask for password...?? What password and where do I get it? What does this tool really do?
- I had both TP2 laying down on my desk and the bars are different. I noticed my husband PRL is 60675 and mine is 60671. Does all Sprint original rom 60675? I failed to look at it before I mod my phone.
However, the link in my sigline does work, so just hunt down one of my posts and you should be golden.
