Solution
Figured it out. Something must have been corrupted on my SD card. Deleted some folders and all went fine with ActiveSync. That's my guess anyways.

I've noticed one consistent issue with syncing a gmail account and it is not ROM related.
If I try to sync "tasks", I will get an error indicating that the sync failed. I can sync contacts, calendar and gmail fine, but it seems like every time I choose to sync tasks in the setup it will fail. So, I don't sync my tasks and everything works.

I tried it, but get reconnect issues. Says something about fixing them in settings, but I did not see anything. Didn't work.

EDIT: NM not willing to reset my router to get a new IP. Seems like this may work well if you have premium account, but reseting the router is a lot of trouble to get s file downloaded And I'll just get the same IP after the reset anyway. I was thinking it would just wait the 60 seconds to start the download, but apparently not.

I just use the firefox add-on called SkipScreen. Works magic!
