What's wrong with "My Location?" If it's not working at all, make sure you're connected to the internet when you sync the first time. Yeah it sounds weird, but it worked for me. I did the flash dance first (back to stock, NOT Task29).

Every time I try to update my weather, it says there was a connection error but yet all my other cities refreshed fine. I even went onto the Accuweather site and looked up my own city and it worked fine as well. It might be the HTC Location Service going bonkers on me since when I turn it off, the same error occurs as well, but it just shows up instantly. Google Maps works fine. Maybe I should connect to ActiveSync really quick... Report back to see if that helps. I never needed to use ActiveSync before to get My Location to work... Might have become dependent on it ever since I started keeping my phone connected to my computer at all times.

EDIT: Yup doesn't work even when I sync to ActiveSync. Or at least connect it to ActiveSyn. I don't really sync since it doubles up all of my contacts and it doesn't seem to like the weird way that I manage my calendar appointments...

EDIT2: Could it be the Ooma phone that my dad installed recently that is interferring? That phone is set to a phone number that is different from the area code of where I live and that could be confusing the Location Service. I don't know. I'm just blabbing out random things that could be causing the problem.

I just purchased a new TP2 the other day and installed the "standard" energy 21911 from 8/6. However, the phone freezes and lags a lot. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Often times when I send a text message, my message doesn't appear in the text box until I exit out and go back into the program.

Can I also disable the little movie when my phone turns on? it takes like a minute or two for the phone to fully boot up.

Don't know how to fix your ROM problem, but to disable the animation, import the REG file that disables the animation. It can be found in both the attachments (just click on the paper clip icon of the topic) and in his add-ons folder.

Mine stopped working all of a sudden once. That was how I fixed it. I wish I could remember where I read about the fix, but I can't. One other thing: my Google Maps couldn't find my location without using GPS either. If that's the case, flash to stock, then flash Energy and make sure you're computer is connected to the internet both times.

I guess I could try that once I find time to download the stock ROM... Well thanks for your help.

EDIT: It really does seem to be the Ooma's fault. I switched my computer to my neighbor's Wi-Fi and lo and behold it actually refreshed with my city there. The error still pops up but at least the weather data is there. I didn't even need to do anything. Oh well. I really should stop using my neighbor's Wi-Fi so much...

Ok, I'll take a stab at it (pun intended).

First, have you run the carrier provisioning?

Second, Do you have an airave? (femtocell?

I had the problems a couple times about the data not available and it was usually cured with a soft reset. However, I have run the carrier provisioning right after the ROM finished flashing.

I have an airave at home and up until recently, my location never updated. Now when I'm at home it says I'm in Chattanooga (about 100 miles south of me). No biggie because I have also manually set my weather to Knoxville - which does update regularly.

EDIT: just realized that your profile lists you as T-mobile so it is unlikely that you have an airave.

If you go into GPS > QuickGPS, Download - does it successfully download the satellites data?

BTW, are you on 21xxx or 23xxx ROM?

The reason why My Location sometimes needs you to be connected initially to the internet VIA SYNC is because... for whatever reason... the satellite info for GPS won't update the very first time unless you're synced. After that it's fine. Don't ask me.
