You sir, gave absolutely no idea what you are talking about. AT ALL.
you need to have a good read about how file systems work, and how many places stuff gets written to, and understand that some things may write directly to the disk at a certain memory map that an aftermarket ROM, OR EVEN AN UPDATE TO AN AFTERMARKET ROM may change over time and leave remnants.

Is this fixed in the most recent build or is anyone else having/had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Thanks for any help.
It is going to be very hard for you to find fixes for old builds, NRGZ28 moves fast, and allot of his die hards move just as fast to get the new roms on our phone to start looking for new bugs!

your best bet is to run the most current rom at all times, because fixes we find or create are going to be for the bleeding edge stuff so NRG can cook it into the new version.

If there was a fix, it is most likely cooked into the new rom

No the 8/11 Rom is not the newish builds yet, I think he is experimenting with them now because there are some major changes in the UI. Stuff like the soft keys are now down on the bottom allong with the OK and other buttons. The taskbar has been revamped and also most likely will not play nice with the HTC notification manager. There is allot of stuff to work out before releasing a new rom, ESPECIALLY the standard version with manilla. I suggest you check out his twitter page!

You are 100% correct, the hard key combination will only work with the device powered off, and you have to hold the buttons for the correct amount of time. the phone will guide you through the rest. If your holding the buttons down and the phone isn't responding, just hold em longer

Thanks for clarifying this for me.
I have that problem also, it appears to be a vbulletin glitch.

I also have my default number of pages cranked waaaaay up. that's why i link back to post #'s instead of pages. When you turn up the default amount of posts per page to show, all the page numbers shift (obviously get lower) and if you click on a link to say page 800, it will just go the the last page. The same thing will happen if you try to go to page 10000 with the default setting, because obviously there is no page 10000

hahah, too freakin funny.

All in all, if it works for you, great, I for one been doing this a long time and NEVER once had I flashed stock to flash custome again. And, yes I have never had any problems. I read all this crap a lot of you go through and go...wow! Really??, hmmm, I dont get it, mine just works.

Have fun flashing folks, whatever way you choose to do so!!!

Gosh, really?

J.eremy - Your post about why to do the hard resets was very informative. Thanks. I personally haven't been flashing to stock each time and haven't had many problems. Maybe lucky; who knows. To each his own.
thanks

you normally don't have to double flash like that. but if you get weird problems that usually fixes it.
The reason it is such a big issue lately is because allot of stuff is changing in winmo 6.5, so we are seeing problems that didn't occur from 6.0-6.1...

Stuff is even changing between winmo 6.5 builds. I don't always flash stock and back, usually i only do that when NRG starts using another winmo build.

hmm, i think battery life is crazy for this rom.

@ 5:45pm i only had 13% battery life. running on latest rom + newest sprint radio + lumos.

@ 9:10 i still had 8% left. i made 2 calls in between. my email syncs every 15 mins.

isn't that amazing?

yes it is! Lumos is doing most of that magic tho. with lumos i got my phone down to like 150 mA drain down from 260 or something with the stock backlight full bright, and the battery life is amazing.

Its kind of like my phone is no longer like a sprinter that needs to stop and breath for 5 minutes to start recovering

yes this post was meant to be funny, but it was also meant to be derogatory toward the people that take extra precautions or the people that have used this method to fix a serious problem.

LOL Yup

I just didn't get as technical as a few others as to why it is a good idea to flash to stock before a new custom rom.
Just because a custom rom doesn't show any problems before an update that doesn't mean that an update won't have an issue with something that the hard reset and flash didn't over write.
A stock flash will write all stock files to the correct address in the memory over writing anything that a custom rom left behind. In theory. LOL

Anyway, it works.
