Flash the new ROM... hard reset and you're good to go. End of story.

You sir, gave absolutely no idea what you are talking about. AT ALL.
you need to have a good read about how file systems work, and how many places stuff gets written to, and understand that some things may write directly to the disk at a certain memory map that an aftermarket ROM, OR EVEN AN UPDATE TO AN AFTERMARKET ROM may change over time and leave remnants.

Is this fixed in the most recent build or is anyone else having/had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Thanks for any help.

It is going to be very hard for you to find fixes for old builds, NRGZ28 moves fast, and allot of his die hards move just as fast to get the new roms on our phone to start looking for new bugs!
your best bet is to run the most current rom at all times, because fixes we find or create are going to be for the bleeding edge stuff so NRG can cook it into the new version.
If there was a fix, it is most likely cooked into the new rom

No the 8/11 Rom is not the newish builds yet, I think he is experimenting with them now because there are some major changes in the UI. Stuff like the soft keys are now down on the bottom allong with the OK and other buttons. The taskbar has been revamped and also most likely will not play nice with the HTC notification manager. There is allot of stuff to work out before releasing a new rom, ESPECIALLY the standard version with manilla. I suggest you check out his twitter page!

You are 100% correct, the hard key combination will only work with the device powered off, and you have to hold the buttons for the correct amount of time. the phone will guide you through the rest. If your holding the buttons down and the phone isn't responding, just hold em longer

I have that problem also, it appears to be a vbulletin glitch.
I also have my default number of pages cranked waaaaay up. that's why i link back to post #'s instead of pages. When you turn up the default amount of posts per page to show, all the page numbers shift (obviously get lower) and if you click on a link to say page 800, it will just go the the last page. The same thing will happen if you try to go to page 10000 with the default setting, because obviously there is no page 10000
