Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Assistance Center. I apologize for the length of time it took me to respond to your email. I understand how frustrating it is not being able to get complete 3G service and on your and not being able to access Wi-Fi from your device. I will be happy to address these problems on your Verizon Touch Pro2.

I have Verizon Touch Pro2 test device. I was unable to replicate the issue of being able to connect to Wi-Fi. I have tied using both Internet Explorer and Opera Browser. Based on the information you have provided not being able to access 3G on your device. Im was to find any information concerning this issue. I would suggest contacting Verizon and make sure there are no outages in your Service Area. Make sure Verizon has correctly setup your device. I would suggest removing any third party software that may be installed to your device. Go on your device to Start> Settings> All Settings> System> then you can choose remove programs and uninstalled the software on your device. If the following steps do not work to resolve your issue then the device will need to be reset back to factory settings. This operation will delete all data off your device back to factory settings. Make sure you have synchronized your device with your computer before continuing with this operation. Follow these instructions to reset your device, Start> Settings> All Settings> System> Clear Storage> Enter 1,2,3,4;Hit Yes. Your device will then go through the Automatic Customization. Make sure you follow all instructions to reset your device. Try out the device for the next couple of days and see if your device still has the same issue. Also for the Wi-Fi issue you are having on your device follow these instructions. What is the current Set encryption lvel on your router? Toggle the Encryption level to see if you are able to connect. Do you have Media Access Control ( MAC) Enabled on your router? If so disable MAC Filtering on your router to see if your device will connect. What is the Wi-Fi channel you are using on your Router? It is recommended to use 1,6, or 11 to connect with your router. What is the key configuration? Is it set at WEP, WEP with TKIP, and WPA with PSK, WPA or WPA2. WEP with TKIP are the recommended Key Configurations to use. Try disabling the Security and Encryption settings on your Router to see if your device connects. Also try connecting to another Wi-Fi router other than your home router.

Thank you for contacting HTC today I hope I have addressed all your needs and concerns today. If you need any further assistance please feel free to reply to my email. Check out www.htc.com for any information about your device. Be sure to check out our online customer satisfaction survey located at http://survey.htc.com/worldwide and www.htcwiki.com
God what a worthless response.

Just curious...still in and out of 1x, though it typically resolves with a soft reset or three...very frustating...I would consider swaping for a Droid but I'm not sure that is a developed enough OS...
I have no beef with Android, but MAN is that Moto Droid keyboard horrible compared to the TP2.

I agree, that's why I haven't made the switch, love the TP2 keyboard...would love it more if it came with a faster processor and a dedicated graphics processor...but hey...maybe next year...

Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!
For those of you who have the plaguing problem of your data connection dropping to 1X, I'm trying to spearhead this issue with Verizon and need your help.

Everytime I open a ticket, it get's closed stating that it's a signal issue with a specific location. We all know that this is not the case. I finally have got ahold of a Tech supervisor who gave me all of his contact information so that we could ALL direct our issue to him. He would then get it elevated through the proper channels and then hopfully they can find a fix. It's my hope that we can all email or call him and explain our issue. He was very nice to work with on the phone and said he is dedicated to getting the problem resolved. I think he's looking at this from a global look rather than an isolated one like every other tech I've spoken to.

Here is his contact information:

Kevin Drakeford
kevin.drakeford@verizonwireless.com
843-566-8600 EXT 1789
Charleston, SC Call Center

Please email or call him with your information and make sure to inform him all of the steps that you've tried that have been unsuccessful (new phone, hard reset, etc etc).

I will try and follow up with him later in the week. Msg here if you contacted him. Hopefully we can get this fixed and be left with just an awesome working phone!

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

I sent this message....today

Hello,
I was informed that you may make an effort that is plaguing many Imagio and TP2 users. I have been round and round with HTC and Verizon and no one seems to want to really look at this problem. There is lots of finger pointing but no one is helping the consumer. Why this person from HTC went on about my Wi-Fi, I'm not certain. I only mentioned that my wi-fi is one bar in my house when all my other devices in the same room are 3-4 bars.

I have a business blackberry and I never get stuck in a 1X signal... Many peopole are so frustrated in trying to get an answer that they are trouble shooting the devices themselfs. I have a replacement device now that I just put on line yesterday..Im not sure if it will stick... Other have done 3 replacements and they have all stuck.

Level 2 support at Verizon has been actually rude to me. I mean I call and I feel like I'm bothering someone. They talk like I'm crazy and I'm the only person with this issue. I have asked for a blackberry storm 2 and the won't budge. Instead they tell me I'm suppose to use a device as it is and there nothing they can do about it. Now I'm getting a refurbishment phone to replace my brand new phone...That doesn't seem right to me. How would they feel?

Anyhow, any help you can give us would be great,,,,
Thank You

Dude, I feel your pain and all the others with this issue as I am (so far)ok with my 3g.
But if your going to send any kind of formal complaint letter or email you should maybe proof read it first. No offense intended but if I read this and then read one with proper spelling and grammar I'd probably write yours off as a ranting. Writing for the forum is one thing, but to be taken as seriously as possible by a big company I'd at least have spell checker running.
Please don't take offense, it's just some helpful criticism for next time. I hope you get some satisfaction out of your efforts.

I couldn't take this issue any longer and swapped my beloved TP2 for the Droid yesterday. It has a solid 3G signal, but god do I HATE THE KEYBOARD!!!! I am going to keep giving it a chance, but right now that's how I feel about it.

As for Verizon fixing this, I wouldn't get your hopes up. They have huge inventory issues with this phone, that are not being resolved, and getting Verizon and HTC on the same page, let alone acknowledge this issue will take months. One of the main things against us, is the fact that when you first activate the phone, it will likely connect to 3G no problem. It's only after continued use will you experience this. Unless there are a bunch of execs running around with problematic Touch Pro 2's at Verizon, this issue will never get any attention. And I assure you, execs at Verizon could give a flip about the Touch Pro 2. Almost every employee at Verizon carries a Blackberry.

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

I too was having the same issue. 3g going to 1X.

I flashed to Calkulin's Rom and now I have 3g (icon shows EV) all the time and at minimum 2 bars. Before, it would swith to 1x. Now Opera, YouTube etc are very fast.

I have a Verizon TP2 but settings are for Spint. I only did the #228 and option 2. I even have more bars on the phone connection.

I am not a Chef, but it has got to be some settings that Verizon sets by default that causes this. Now, I am not sure if I should try other ROMS and loose this. I live in a very rural area but now all is well with 3G and signal strength. I am using the 23506 build.

Updated first post.

I'm also going to email Kevin, but just a friendly reminder to folks.... if you do, please be polite. I share everyone's frustration but we all know it's not Kevin's fault and I'm thankful he's agreed to try and help us (and thanks to gbruyn for getting us a bit further).
