Re: Data Plan Required

I don't understand the problem here, with having to have a data plan on a data device.....You do have a choice. Buy an unlocked TP2 and use it on AT&T or whoever. No one is holding a gun to your head.

Secondly, if you buy a subsidized phone the carrier is loosing money on the phone at the time of sale in order to make money off your data usage. They are in business to make money. We all are. It's a foolish sentiment to think businesses should not make a profit off us......And again, no one held a gun to your head and made you do it.

Next, as has been mentioned, carriers have spent millions building their networks out. They need substantial income to recoup those costs and begin making a profit on that investment. Therefore the successful carrier is going to tweak their plans to make the best use of their networks, leading to the best profit margin. It's not unfair for them to do that. As I have said, if you feel it is unfair, go do business with someone else.

Lastly, and probably most importantly, computing is going to cloud computing. In the next 2-5 years we are going to see huge shifts in that direction. It won't be long before you will not be able to buy a single phone anywhere on the planet without data. It will become a complete necessity.

As for the present, I don't know why people cry about it, and don't, or did't, do something about it, and sign on with someone who doesn't demand a data plan? If you don't like the way someone does business, why do business with them?

My apologies to those of you I upset with this post.

Dave

So with going with PagePlus, even at that cost up front, I still save hundreds over the two year.

But my gripe is, I had a V60 on their service for over 10 years so I way more then paid for that phone & my two new ever year supplement qualification and should have been able to get the TP2 for $90.00 but not had to pay a extra $750.00 over the next two years for something I don’t want or need just to get it.

But because of this mandatory $750.00 extra and all those who support it, all that was stolen from me so I had to fork over all that extra money up front just to minimize that as much as I could but in the end I am still be ripped off for way more then I should have.

So thanks to all who support this for helping to steal that money from me and from all the countless others who are in the same situation.
You are welcome. I don't feel bad either. If you want a smartphone you gotta pay for the services. I'm a paying customer and that's how these companies can afford to go to 4g services. If everybody was a cheapskate like you the company would never be able to upgrade and we would be stuck with 3g forever. You act like companies need to keep pushing out upgrades without making any $. You go open your company and give the people all the options in the world and see how long you stay afloat. I'm excited about all the companies going 4g and they are spending billions, where do you think this money will come from, don't guess let me tell you, it will come from the data that people get charged.

As I've said, I have had this argument so many times its not even funny and it always goes the same way to where I quash every argument you could ever make in favor of this but then 2 or 3 pages later they or someone always comes right back around again with the same statements and I have to start all over again.

I swear it’s like those old TV variety shows that has the guy spinning plates on the top of sticks and the minute he gets one back up to speed he has to run back to the oldest one he did to keep that one from falling.

An if there is one thing I have learned from these threads is that no matter how blatantly you expose how wrong this is and how this is a complete rip off and how and why that is wrong, there is always some who’s heads are just too broken and either just keep repeating the same insanities and or eventually come around again to the same broken headed crap and make me repeat the process of explaining it all over again.

Simple put I have gone over all this before and it is all there in as plain of English as can be read or written as to why this is wrong, even for the most mentally and ethically challenged, so there is no point in doing all again.

So for what ever it is that you think makes sense of your point, go over my posts an read them, and if you still don’t get that this is stealing and how it is stealing and how and why that is wrong, then what ever metal deffliction it is you have is way more serious then I or anyone else can ever hope to possibly overcome in this format.

So banter on all you wish but I'm going to unsubscribe from this as I've said all that can be said and go on my merry way of only paying $29.99 for 1200 min of talk & text.

We've all read your posts and they don't explain your point, only in your mind which is why the majority of people don't agree with you and why the government haven't stepped in and called it stealing. So lets agree to disagree. And in none of your posts have you explained how the company is suppose to make money or recoup money if people are dodging the billion dollar network they built by people using wifi.

Just to point out, I've been taking care of myself since I was younger then that as I had a Father who was diagnosed with MS when I was 4, and I have a brother with Downs Syndrome and a mother who barely did anything to help with any of that but that recently had a stroke that gave her so much brain damage she has to have 24hr care so your not the only one out there with troubles.

Simply put, as I've always said, "make it a choice", if you need it, or want it or want to waist all the money you care to waist on anything for that matter, then fine, do it all you want, that’s your “choice” and you have every right to make that decision if you so choose.

But if you read my post my point is to not make this "mandatory" as that removes that same right of choice from anyone else to have that “not” be the case if that is the choice they would like to make.

An as well that no one has the right to tell anyone what is right or wrong to spend their money on or not, or to make the decision for someone else what is sensible or not based on their own opinion.

So I'm sorry sprintgirl about your troubles but you just don't have the right to make that decision for others.
i think you misunderstood...i am not crying about my "troubles" i was just making sure that you know we understand the value of money in case you were thinking that people my age couldnt possibly undersand being budget concious, since that is the way you made it seem. and nobody is putting a gun to your head. there are plenty of phones that dont require a data plan. and remind me when i made a decision for anyone but myself...you must not be a very good reader because i never even implied that i had any control over your decisions. also, sprint has recently invested billions of dollars in improving coverage and tops that with a 30 day trial guarantee. we have even developed a tool that can tell you your exact coverage down to a specific building. it never hurts to shop the competition is the point. you are spending more money for less service with verizon or like provider and you are happy about it. hm...seems strange for someone so concerned with saving. i suggest you quit making empty accusations and crying about being "forced" to do something. nobody can make you do anything. get a non data phone if you dont want a data package or go to a company that will not only save you money but also include extra services (such as data) for no additional charge.

Um a yeah it does and if you think I'm the only one and this is all in my lonely mind then lets take a count of how many of my posts and for what on this thread have been thanked and how many times as apposed to yours.

An btw what the government decides to make a law about or prosecute at the moment is hardly a defining statement on what is right or wrong.

First of all in this country, especially in matters such as this, money makes the laws now, not people or what is right or wrong.

Second, if you may recall slavery was legal for awhile in this country at one time too, so are you telling me that meant for that time that was right and anyone who apposed it was wrong just by that definition???

An look a how many fought an died just to keep it that way what had to be done to over come that.

So by your statement that means that was right too yeah?

Like I said to all, this has all been gone over before and I've made my statements on it all.

The fact that your posts keep getting thanked lets us know Its the same butt buddy, nobody new is reading this thread. I'm not going t even go into the rest of your argument because it doesn't prove your point. Just because 1 or 2 people agree and push thanks doesn't mean anything. Simple put sprintgirl, the way this is, is, by what the carries have done, if you want this device or any device in its class or remotely close to what it can do, then fork over a extra $750.00 for something even if you don't need it and if you don't, then you can't have it.

If that isn't holding a gun to your head about it, then what would you consider would be?

An second I think have read your post just find, you have argued all along that you feel that anyone who gripes about this is just being cheap and that you feel that is wrong an that they should stop complaining and just pay it.

Simple put that has been the gist of all that you have said.

And all I have been saying is, you don't have the right to decide for anyone what is justified and what is not.

Sprintgirl didn't make the decision, the company YOU chose to subscribe to made the decision for you. And you still haven't said how the company is suppose to recoupe after spending billions on a 4g network if people aren't subscribed to data. Or should they spend billions for free? They are building 4g networks mainly for smarphones and data cards, and you're already trying to cut out over 50% of their market.

As I've said this has all been thoroughly hashed out before for any logical or sane person to understand.

An the fact that you keep arguing on the same points still even in light of it all, only shows that you just can’t come to grips with it for what ever reason, perhaps you got hit by lightening a few times as a kid or in some way think this is going to make or save you money in the long run and could care less about how that effects anyone else, which clearly seems to be the case by your blatant self interest in virtually every one of your posts.

What ever the case may be you don’t represent the majority by far if you research this, as for most, an even with the ones who first support but that then learn about all the lies and how and what the carriers are doing, most people don’t like being robbed and as more an more people learn about this and alternatives come out, they always come around.

So banter all you want to serve yourself cause for every one of you there are many many more like me, so if I were you I would start saving my pennies for that rainy day.
