Data Plan Required

This thread is certainly amazing.
I guess I'll have fold on the rest of the thread because it's getting nobody any reasonable discussion. Those on the side of Big Red are likely going to stay rather there are good arguments or not. Let them vote with their pocketbooks.
I moved onto Page Plus (Verizon) because I get what I need at a price which is more than reasonable. I'm allowed to use the phone I want, the amount of minutes and text I want(unlimited), and the amount of data I want- next to nothing
I guess I'll just be happy allowing the unsuspecting non use data fools to shell out a lot of money on a two year contract just to have the "privelage" of using a great phone. It's their fault for throwing their money down the toilet if they don't use the data. If their ignorant that there are other alternatives so be it.

Don't get me wrong .I do agree that Verizon should make money on customers for products and services people do want to pay for. I doubt anyone is disputing this fact. As I said said before, for a user to have a "pay as you go" data plan on their Big Red account for 4 or more years and then later to be told that for the privelage of using a different handset which in every way is the same to the previous handsets used data wise is a joke. All I was asking was to keep the same "pay as you go" plan on my account and allow me to SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES of data charges that I'd commit and that I had committed over the past years.

This is the whole point of the thread. Madatory is crazy so that's why I jumped ship directly with Verizon.

Only one last question for the wireless provider proponents who insist that the wireless companies bring in revenue to pay for "the network". Someone here please explain to us all how it is financially beneficial for Verizon to lose a customer paying $120 month for an unlimited talk/text (at the time) because they don't allow him to continue the exact same service in the same manner when he chooses to purchase outright a new phone from a third party. I realize that plan is something like $69.99 + Text + fees etc now I believe for the same plan. When a customer jumps ship to find other alternatives and eventually does leave for whoever what does that do for their bottom line? In my situation they'd be getting $90 or so per month in revenue if they let it continue on like I was willing to pay. Now they get a portion of my money through Page Plus. You'd think they'd let a customer slide so they can keep his revenue but they won't.

Yes, I realize that maybe they make more money of the dumb @$$es they sign up who have to pay $30 monthly for the privelage of using their shiny new phones even though they don't want the plan. I guess that's the way it has to be

An no one is stopping anyone from recouping any looses.

The choice to offer this service or not offer it and in and to what degree of costs it is, is the carriers choice an if they want to make it that’s fine.

But if the carriers make the decision to add something to their services that if given the choice there isn't enough people out there who want it, then why are the ones who don’t supposed to pay for that?

Simple put in this country we have a thing called supply and demand, if anyone comes up with a business or service that can’t pay for itself by the demand that comes from choice of the consumers who do want it when offered to them, then it fails, and it’s the offer of that service that suffers as they are the ones who responsibly for that.

But it is not our responsibility as consumers just because we wish to purchase other services they offer and not that one to be forced to pay to make up for what ever losses come from the fact that there is not enough demand to pay for that, and especially we serious should not be “forced” to do so by all the crooked means and ways this has been done.

Of course for someone who does decide and is getting that service and doesn't care about others and wants them to help pay for it for them even if it means that money is getting stolen from others, all just so they don't have to pay more for it and or may loose it, then I guess I can see how they would come up with your reasoning p.

Simply put, if you don't want the services go cry a river elsewhere, you get no sympathy from us. Its up to the company, you've given no evidence to call it stealing. If you don't agree with them go somewhere else. Complaining about it isn't going to help. If you can't grasp it then oh well, start your cell company and guaranteed with the business practice you are describing in this thread it will surely fail. Please close this thread somebody we're going around in circles.

Correct this obviously isn't the forum where people come to complain about bad business practices. The op thought he would have some support from the ppcgeek community on this topic and as we can see by everyone's responses the op is outnumbered an in minority, so yes go cry somewhere else and post on other forums that discuss bad business practices. Us on the other hand are happy with our smartphones and realize data everywhere is a necessity for a smartphone and most of us can't wait for 4g devices.
