Well I took my Apache with a non-functional touchscreen to the same Sprint store as the OP, and I must say I was extremely surprised by the outcome.

I figured, best case they give me a new-in-box Mogul. Worst case they give me a refurb Apache. But I didn't get either.

They gave me MY OWN APACHE back to me! Apparently they were able to replace the screen, even though I could have sworn that I read on another thread that the store techs aren't even allowed to do repairs on Apaches.

Oh well, next time I have an issue, I'll take it to the same store and hope for the best.

PS I wonder if they kept deanerh's Apache around for parts and gave me his old screen

Everyone is experiencing the same problem and none of you are doing it right.
Instead of sending your phone in because of a bad battery cover, misaligned touch-screen, or malfunctioning software, everyone just throw your phone into a pool at once (if you have TEP). This way, we'll all get 6800 for the $50 deductable. By sending it in to be "replaced" you're simply getting another user's 6700, from this forum, that they simply ship to another store to give back out with the same problems! We're all sharing the same crappy 6700.

Seriously though, does anyone know any tricks to "requesting" a 6800 replacement and "bending the rules" to sprint store policies? There's gotta be a way...

Have your 6700 replaced three times. After the third, on the fourth try, they'll more than likely give you either a Treo or a 6800.

Actually that would be worse.

When your phone is "lost" or "stolen" you have to file a claim with Asurion. Asurion has all the shitty phones from back in the day. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they still have some G1000's.

When you take it into the store, you either get a replacement right then and there, or they order one from Sprint's warehouse (I think it depends on what protection package you have). So if Sprint doesn't have it, you'll get a Mogul or whatever else they have.

And even if I could get a Mogul through Asurion, I wouldn't, because I don't commit fraud. Shopping for a store that might give me a Mogul for an Apache with legitimate issues may be less than honest, but it's a far cry from giving my fiancee my Apache as a GPS device and telling Sprint that I lost it.

I personally don't plan on cheating Sprint on my phone insurance... why the hell does everyone think TEP went up this year?! Because of people busting their crap so they can get the next big thing, sometimes doing it multiple times until Sprint gives them what they want...

I was in the middle of reflashing my 6700 rom when My computer just shut off! When I attempted to reflash I got a "country ID error" so I took it to sprint and they said they had no more 6700 in stock and if I wanted a 6700 I would have to wait 2 weeks. I told him I could not live 2 weeks without my phone so they replaced it with a brand new out of the box mogul!

They were out or 6700 so I got a MOGUL! This was at the Kenwood store in Cincinnati, Ohio three days ago.
They didn't bother ordering me one. They game me the 6800 right there at the store! And all I went in for was a new battery cover!
