yes we can fix keypads, we can actually fix every single part on the phone except the motherboard, and motherboard damage voids repair work.

Our store in socal still has a fukton of parts for repairs on this handset because we harvest every handset we end up replacing that has useable parts.

-yes we are out of 6700 replacement stock
-yes we are upgrading into recon and then new 6800 replacements
-when the warehouse has 6700 recon stock we use it first (we have to) but its extremely limited and rare
-shitbags and sabateurs get voided for being scum
-if your phone breaks, cross your fingers, your odds of getting "lucky" are high

I had to take my 6700 in at lunch today, the usb port broke this morning. I asked them if they could fix it as my phone was the original I purchased when they were first released. I really don't want to have to deal with the hit or miss refurbs as this one has been rock solid without problems. Well the only problems were the software one by filling up all the memory or compatibility issues. The tech also noticed I had the updated AKU, ask if I had WM6. I told him I tried but it kept locking up, no way for me to reflash to the sprint official ROM with my busted usb port. I guess I should of thought about the IR port, oh well to late now. Another tech there has WM6 on there 6700. Maybe I will get lucky and get a replacement 6700 that was as stable my my old one, not really counting on getting a 6800. If i do get a 6800 then I will have to purchase more accessories, the wife will love that. I will know more after work.

i am sure you have stock I just dont think anyone can order any more parts. And far and few between recon 6700s will surely come back in stock. Its comes down to ho lucky you are

Well I got a replacement 6700. Different ROM than the official Sprint:

Rom: 2.11.20 WWE
Rom Date: 04/04/06

Hopefully it isn't a typical refurbished one where you have to take them in every couple of months.

I had my friend try it at the same store I had luck with. This time they offered to give her a 6700 as a replacement.

Yesterday they offered me a 6800 as a replacment. Right now there is no hard rule. It looks like it is the luck of the draw.

+1 - could not agree more. I for one was ecstatic they could fix my so fast (couple hours) for $55 w/o any insurance, and gave me a new screen to boot. Sprint is not nearly half as bad as people say!

Had to return the replacement that I got on Monday. The usb crapped out and it was in really crappy shape. I did get an additional battery and stylus. I haven't been successful in getting a swap for a 6800 at retail or repair center. Pretty much every retail store sends me to the repair center. Here in Baton Rouge we have 4 repair centers and they are all private owned so they can only order me a replacement. They don't even stock the 6700 anymore. The tech said that he cannot even request a 6800 for me from the warehouse. So I doubt if I can get a 6800 from the warehouse. I have a feeling I will be getting replacements very frequently from now on.

I hope my refurnished 6700 it as rock solid as my first phone, when I had the treo 650, I was exchanging it every 3 to 6 months for hardware faults. After that the refurb always scares me as it is a pain to take it in, then come back in an hour. At that point if they don't have one in stock it has to be ordered, just so time consuming to get a replacement phone.

So far the refurb 6700 seems fine. The blue backlight on the keyboard is different.
