Asus just pulled out their Core i5-powered, Windows 7-running Eee Pad Slate tablet, calling it "the most powerful tablet in the world." Probably so! They proved their point by simultaneously playing 1080p video and running photo editing software.
The video seems to be running without any problems, and the handwriting recognition Asus is showing off is pretty impressive. So far so good! And it certainly looks good on paper: 12.1" multitouch IPS display; 64GB SSD with 4GB memory; 10.1 Flash capable, etc. It is certainly big and bad, but what remains to be seen is how useful it'll be as a tablet.

Hands-on with the ASUS EP121 Slate PC
uhm asus...er...uhm...
hp 2740p convertible is far more powerful with 8gb max ram, 4 point capacitive touch screen i7 2.6 gig processor option of ssd (256 gig) or 500 gig standard hd...
the only problem is screen resolution, but otherwise it is still the cream of the crop and it was released LAST year
sadly its 3k =(
edit it runs android
oh yes sadly its a toy...if I'm buying a tablet it will stand as my main pc and if I want to load linux, macosx I will load it...sorry android =( it's not you it's my tastes (
I love you on my brother's hd2 with miui...don't look at me that way just walk away don't make this any more painful!!!

gten actually it would be great maybe ask courtney and see if you can do a writeup on your experience there that would bring ppcgeeks a lot more unique visitors too!
I can writeup even without asking..all mods have access to write on the news page..If there is anything you want me to specifically check out tell me..I can't make any guarantees though since as I said I don't know how much time I will have and a lot of it may be wasted getting lost or being distracted by shiny gadgets..

Playing 1080p and photo editing software at once isn't that impressive...I mean even a Hummingbird CPU can play back 1080p..I don't know if it can do photo editing at same time though but you get the point...

Though asus is not lying..just what your showing is a convertible..

I will tell you this though..I bought my friend an HP convertible and they liked it, so I shortly bought myself one..1 month after the 1 year warranty ran out their convertible fried...same for me, 2 month later after my 1 year warranty ran out my convertible fried...so as you can guess I am not to thrilled with HP after that :/

I personally think M$ choice of going in with a 1st gen snapdragon was a bad one..and you know that yourself cause I remember back in the day on the WP7 gang thread the posts were about 1.2ghz phones, 2ghz phones, dual cores and etc..and instead we got that..I mean admit it..even you didn't expect that..and what I am saying is with having the old snapdragon as the minimum it will bring the platform down for at least a year..maybe even 2...its not saying that its 100% doomed..but this is one brick off the bottom..

The processor and carriers still having control..
How many phones are running hummingbird processors that don't have samsung on the back??? I haven't seen one.
MS chose to take an established processor and hardware accelerate it. Can't complain about that. If there are no new phones with updated processors by next xmas, then you can come back and say I told you so, but until then...

Verizon has a butload of Android phones. Some with some very nice looking design lines and beeffy hardware to match.
p.
That new Asus tablet looks promising, but 1100.00??? Don't think the wife will let me.
Now that new mitisubishi 92in dlp??? It's on my santa list already...

Sprint...you know I don't think they were existent at this CES for much...not even the evo was announced then actually...
but to tide you over next month update does bring cdma support, some major bug fixes, and a few other things. Sadly as gTen corrected me, it is carrier based...which means not good...either that or we need some f/w leaks and now
guess this means that sprint and verizon still have another month before their wp7 headsets are coming out...

I may actually end up going to CES..I'm in town around that time so if I finish what I need to I may attend one of the days
you really think that the galaxy s phones have better hardware than the iphone 4??? Why?

Samsung is an established processor company, they made processors for pretty much all the iphones and many other phones...

As for updating the hardware by next christmas..you COMPLETELY missed the point..I am saying the minimum is going to hold the platform back because it is too low...(at least in gaming)

Galaxy S = 1ghz Hummingbird + SGX540
iPhone4 = 850mhz A4(cousin to the Hummingbird) + SGX535

See any reason?

Actually, the Hummingbird is capable of recording and playing 1080p..and it should be possible...BUT the default software/drivers installed are configured for 720p for both playing back and recording..1080p was already unlocked on the iphone I hear..just takes someone to unlock it for us :/
