I just don't see how wp7 could be better than android. I was a wp user/developer for years though... android just does what I want, better.

Although I am a firm believer in to each is own.

once you really try wp7, it's just like android but smooth. of course, I've only got 24 hours of it under my belt, but it's really a good start for the os. and the great thing is no more waiting for carriers to release the updates, they come straight from microsoft to the phone . the only 2 pieces of bloatware on the hd7...tmobile navi and tmobile tv.

I could see where ur coming from. Although with android since I am on the "bleeding edge" of cyanogen I always have the latest shiz. I didn't have anything against wp except a little lag.... I guess I just like the idea of open source and customization.

As I said before..the updates can't be rolled out until carriers approve them..so you still would end up waiting for carriers..

And its nothing like android >.>..its more like an iphone with a different UI..>.> lol

@fusion - wp is not the same as winmo...its a completely new OS from scratch..only thing in common/similar is the kernel...

just got my hd7....I will this thing to test and let you guys know the difference between winmo and wp7.
The difference? You'll be writing until your thumbs fall off. There is absolutely nothing similar about the two platforms except that they both do have a screen of some kind.

Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

The more post and pages added to this thread shows a lack of doom and gloom for WP7 IMHO. I have had the Focus for three weeks and so far I have not needed to cut & paste; not sure I will have the need when it's added soon. I do know I love the OS, I love the simple interface; I hate not having direct sync with Outlook but am using a workaround until something commercially is available.

i think wp7 is an update or 2 from really giving the other os'es (is that a word?) a run, i laugh when i read some of these posts. most folks who complained about having to tweak and hack winmo to make it work would be pleasantly surprised by how fluid wp7 is if they would just try it and not go by what they've read. i don't want to sound like one of those guys who thinks mine's the best because i own it, i'm giving it a shot and then will have a better opinion of the os.

True, look at it this way.

Apple products can be "jailbroken"
Android devices can be given "root access"
What name could we use for WM7? Lets look through the PPCG blog articles... I know! "Windows Mobile 7" devices can be "fixed"

It really is annoying being as locked down as apple. Too late for MS to fix it now, so this time its up to us.
