Re: Warez Vs. Tethering
I look at paying for a product like pdanet to be similar to buying a slingbox. i could pay the monthly fee for PAM or sprint tv, but why not pay the one time fee? now, i'm sure you could say that one is violating the TOS and one is not, but so what. usually surfing the web for an hour uses less data than, watching my slingbox on my phone for an hour. Also, if I violate my TOS, then sprint has a few options; they can charge me additional fees, terminate my contract, or do nothing. If sprint does nothing, then who's to say I owe them anything. And that is where the difference is, providing illegal cracked programs would get ppcgeeks shut down, where as giving you the means to violate YOUR own TOS is up to your discretion to use, and up to your carrier's discretion to enforce.
please note that I capitalized "your" in the last sentance because not all TOS's are the same and it is up to you to know your TOS and not up to ppcgeeks. if internet sharing violates one person's TOS and not another's, then it should be posted on here, and left to user to decide what to do. Re: Warez Vs. Tethering
and if anything that posted text message from TELUS saying they dont approve.. only further proves the carriers have interest..
Telus expressed its disapproval of this, so is the site now gonna ban all telus users from talking about these things, because thats telus saying, hey, your not allowed to that... is the hack gonna not be allowed in telus roms now that Telus notified a member of this site that he is in fact stealing services.. telus just doesnt know how or where it came from to do anything but say well charge you if you dont comply... if anything this should be a warning, to ALL OF US, we may be on the verge of losing our gifts that have been so graciously bestowed and past along onto us... its time to stop spreading the wealth.. its time to admit, and stop sugar coating what we really are doing and just remove all traces from the site and ban the topic... if someone posts the ever annoying " can or how can i connect my phone to my laptop"...and somewhere in there dont forget the ".....for free" we shold simply tell them its not a topic for here and to contact their carrier for the correct solution to their problem.. not advise them how to steal services from their carrier.. |

Re: Warez Vs. Tethering
WOW!!!
I seriously just found this thread...after reading about it over and over and over again in the HTC VOGUE forum. I kind of just got fed up with people trying to STEAL the service I just had to go to the mods with it. I posted over in the READ BEFORE YOU POST...you know...the one where they say posting Warez is against the rules. Honestly people...what is the difference between tossing off some copyrighted software, or a way to get a SERVICE FOR SALE for free by loopholes? This is stealing...directing people to steal, and assisting stealing in everyway. I honestly can't believe I just read through 7 or 8 pages of posts back and forth and never got ONE response from a mod whatsoevere. I guess maybe they're still making their decision? I just have one question here... I watched my favorite ROM maker... NFSFAN get banned from here for "allegedly" copying software by NO2CHEM...which wasn't copyright...which means wasn't WAREZ, but he gets banned...what gives... I like this forum and I like helping people...I like the rule of no WAREZ...I like the idea of people getting credit where credit is due...I don't really want to get banned...but I would really love to see people quit talking about doing something illegally/against the TOS or whatever you want to call it. I know I don't have to read the post etc, etc, etc... but stick by your own rules and be for real. FOR THOSE TETHERING AWAY WITHOUT PAYING...WHY DON'T YOU JUST BUY A BROADBAND CARD...AND PAY FOR IT...LIKE MOST PEOPLE DO WHO REQUIRE IT??? FOR THE MODS...SORRY IF YOU TAKE THIS OFFENSIVE...I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SEE SOME JUDGEMENT ON IT... |

but yeah here ya go.. from our "NO TOLERANCE" policy.. You WILL be banned if you post anything about warez (keygens, serials, cracks, anything about getting paid software for free) or ESN cloning. a hosting site offering "cracked versions" of paid software or allowing its members to post, offer, or support is a no no right, and indeed would be supplying warez...were all in agreementt with this right????? now can u offer the keygens, serials, cracks without having the software?? im pretty sure this is a solid NO as well.. how our we not supplying the "key, serial, crack,(instead we use safe words here like "hack" or "tweak" and hide behind their definiton being slighty varied).. sure ppc isnt giving us something.. although im sure quite a few have sprint and are more than familiar with sprint TOS, and if not from their personal experience, but from the serveral times over its been posted in this website over the years.. but kazaa wasnt supplying the mp3s to its users either |

Re: Warez Vs. Tethering
i did just go read what he posted, he admitted to knowing the salesman didnt know that he really couldn tether without a 'MIKE" plan.. so the site member knew full well he needed the additional plan for the access he was getting.. hes gonns argue charges, if anything, but their not gonna allow him to continue doing what hes doing.. theyve obviously proved that by contacting him..
sprint is allowed to lock whatever service they deem fitting.. they make the calls.. its their network.. we pay them, we dont pay MS or anyone for using sprint.. were not magically usuing a MS data line using ICS this way.. Why could sprint block sms for so long, yet offer it to virtually every other phone in their service, yet still charge us a monthly pic mail fee, even though we cant use it... there would be a class action suit in an instant, cost sprint 100s of millions of dollars to pay every user back for the months they paid for pic mail, yet the service was unavailable to them.. why cant they be sued? because it their right to decide how we use anything and everything that radiates from inside/throughout these phones... |

your admitting you knew you were stealing something, and your gonna try to hide behind a lie(him saying u could in fact do it) when in fact, you knew the lie to be false ahead of time.. so your hoping your deceit will pay off basiclly.. and sprint user manual tells you how to send a pic mail, yet your not suppose to use it until you pay the proper fee... everyone, especially someone who knows to turn to a site like this for things) knows that their carriers dont not offer this type of service with an add on of some sort of an inclusive type plan Last edited by crazychef; 02-23-2009 at 03:40 AM. |

Re: Warez Vs. Tethering
I was posting more to explain what I interpreted the message from Telus to mean and to point-out how ics wouldn't be considered 'warez' in a Telus subscribers' situation as it is a stock feature on our device. My problem with Telus is some of the lying that some retailers use to get you with Telus instead of the competition, because I mentioned Bell's plan that was cheaper but the salesperson (who's card I still have) said I would get unlimited data not mobile web like Bell offers. I did my due dilligence with the salesperson and asked for clarification twice, in two different ways and was told "Yes, unlimited. You're using data anyways it's the same thing." I'm not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to contribute to the discussion.
