Re: Warez Vs. Tethering

So, where does that leave your argument about warez? It no longer makes ics warez, at least as a rule. It would then have to banned on the site for specific carriers, wouldn't it?

Re: Warez Vs. Tethering

I really dislike this thread.

What it comes down to is site liability, none of this discussion matters.

If cracked software is being distibuted here, cracks etc... ppcgeeks can and would be in danger of being shut down. That is why that discussion is not tolerated.

Discuss teathering all you want (or don't want in your case) ppcgeeks.com is in no danger. Discuss away.

What bugs me most is you make this big stupid thread talking about something you do, many others do, and many others want to do - and discuss it at nauseum - because it bothers you to see noobs want to do what you already do.

If you don't want to help then don't read those posts, whatever.

I don't want to read threads like this' so I choose to not open this thread again.

For a topic you don't want to see you sure make a lot of others discuss.

how doesnt it strengthen my case about warez? all this means that MS and the Carriers recongize this as additional software, thats to be utilized through proper payment for use of service of the software.. any software thats to be paid for is considered shareware.. using a anytype of modification(keygen, code, reg edit, tweak, hack) to obtain the softwares services is a high prohibited act know as warez..

we "crackiing" ics through reg edits, or buying wmwifi to basically install the edit on a per use basis so to speak.. if you pay for a PAM,MIKE, or whatever for usuage, now wmwifi just becomes another form of tethering, via wifi, bluetooth which u paid to have access to along with you carriers appropriate plan..

when usuing ics hack(which u wouldnt need on sprint if u had a PAM plan) or wmwifi router without a PAM,MIKE, whatever plan now your creating a "crack" to gain backdoor access or to piggyback the signal to gain free services

You will use the service for customary voice, messaging and wireless Internet data purposes only. You will not use the service for: multi-media streaming; voice over Internet protocol; or any other application which uses excessive network capacity or may otherwise adversely impact other users, that is not made available to you by TELUS. You will not resell the service to any other person. You will not abuse any flat rate or unlimited use service plan offered by TELUS. You will not use the service to operate an e-mail, web, news or other similar service

Its was all there in black and white man..
After reading the Telus TOS, I would have to say that it doesn't say anything at all about tethering specifically. It says that you will not use bandwidth intensive applications that Telus DOES NOT provide. (For example, Sling-box streaming - on the phone, torrent downloading - on PC or laptop.) It says that one of the only acceptable uses is for wireless internet data. To me, tethering to your laptop and useing the internet WIRELESSLY to download webpage DATA is perfectly fine when you go by what is said in the TOS.... AS LONG AS you don't use bandwidth intensive programs which surfing websites shouldn't be classified as since when you use Opera on your phone (which is included from stock) you can download the desktop version so therefore you would use the same amount of bandwidth downloading the same webpage on your phone or while tethered to your laptop. And, since bandwidth is mentioned in the TOS, it does matter whether or not he is using a lot or a little of it.

On another note, I don't think chef is going to stop going on about this until everybody else stops replying. Stirring the pot anyone? He'll probably turn my argument into one for his side as well.

I do tether with my TP to my laptop once in a while and realize that it's in violation of the TOS as well. One thing I found real strange is that I have changed a server in the ##778# settings and over Christmas at my mom's, I know that I downloaded over 500 MB and on my bill, it showed up as 13 or 14 MB. My usage/month since then hasn't gone above 10 MB and I know for a fact that I've used more that just with data on my phone.

So by your definition of "cracking", when I use a regedit to keep the screen on like normal when in on a call instead of shutting off after a few seconds I'm cracking WM..,. or how about when I use a regedit to change what displays in the top right corner on the today screen... whether I want the clock or the battery... that must be cracking WM too since it's done through a regedit. I guess we better start petitioning for a ban on Advanced Config since it's a front end for all sorts of regedits which means we must be cracking WM liike crazy and providing it to the masses.

Now that sounds ridiculous doesn't it??? That's about how you're starting to sound. We all know what we're doing when we tether and the admins would have shut down the discusion of tethering "hacks" if it was "warez" as you like to call it. They've let this thread get to 17 pages already and hardly a reply from any mods. That should say something to you that you're not getting anywhere.

its a forum right? and posted in a discussion section? what is a forum? a medium in which a debate can take place? sure, thats 1 definition, im sure theres more..

And should i not ask people their opinons on the subject, before i try to get something banned from this site.. in essance, didnt i do the right thing by involving the great people of this website, in my educated and well thought out proposed topic of dicussion?

we cant justify us stealing, intentionally and maliciously.. who cares if i do it, can a lawyer not defend a DUI client, because in fact he drinks and drives sometimes.. sure, its definitely textbook "conflict of interest" in that case, and mine.. But that doesnt mean that i cant point out where frequently taking about warez here...

didnt you read Coz's big post in the other thread(and reposted here by me), "if its not tangible, you wont account for it" thats why we dont care, one more score for the little.. down with big corporate, yay! i mean come on, we"re blantly "cracking" a pay for play service and hosting, advising, AND PROVIDING methods for its use... you cant refute that..

but thanks for coming in for what has for the most part been a decent discussion of free opinions and ideas here, and coming at me and really just trying to get at me and not really going after the thread topic

Re: Warez Vs. Tethering

So, are you saying that WModem is warez because I don't have a plan that lets me tether unlimited? Why is it different to still pay for the data but use ICS?

umm, actually you sound ridiculous...sorry if that sounds rude, but you dont grasp the point.. warez is about the transfer of money not tking place...
is there a paid service your avoiding or "cracking" with reg edits to change the backlight, or add a clock, or remove a tf3d tab, NO.. your not stealing anything.. is advanced config a "cracked" app that we should have to buy it somewhere, but someone cracked the reg key and distributed it freely, NO its not, so its use shouldnt be included in this discussion... advanced config has absolutely nothing to do with tethering

paying for data and usuing ics(no hack needed now though btw) is the proper way to do this.. wmodem is not a warez.. if you distrubte a version of WModem that avoids the payment system for it use, its now warez.. if you created a keygen, crack, tweak, mod, hack for others to obtain those services, yet do not offer the software itself only the method to bypass its use for free.. that is warez

see the part where it says not abuse any flat rate unlimited plan.... thats where its talking about tethering.. our interpretations of laws dont matter, thats for courts... you make think murder is acceptable if u catch your wife in bed with another man, a judge or jury may think differently based on the laws and rules...

and wow, 10mb, power user arent ya, the cap is 5gb is your impying you go over but not alot, i dont really see what your amout of use means in here.. thats like saying yes i used warez, but it was only a few times.. its still not allowed..

and u dont need ics hacks or anything, but a data plan and wifi to run slingbox on your phone..

and nowhere in TOS does it say anything other than you cant use your data connect in the fashion of gaining access to a pc/laptop without paying for the right unlimited data service and that the standard unlimited data service is not enough

customary voice, messaging and wireless Internet data purposes only... PAM,MIKE, whatever is not cutomary usage.. and you traveling around with a device, with internet capabilities mean you have wirless internet in your hands... not hooked into a laptop/pc
