alot of this is inherited knowledge and trial and error for the beginners, that's just the way it is. But I personally don't think Calkulin is here to cater to the slowest kid in the class.

There's other Chefs for that
I'm the slowest kid in the class beacause I didn't know that
"Applications System - Messaging Client 1.5.1922.2911.00" was the HTC messaging client from manila 2.5 that could be used in manila 2.1.

I think Calkulin makes a very nice kitchen, that's why I am using it and not one of those other noob friendly kitchens, but I feel it would be more complete and benefical to others if there were descriptions on what these packages are/do. I don't have questions on how to use the kitchen or build roms.

I posted this questions so someone could answer it like 2k4mach did and I could learn. I tried figuring it out, but couldn't. Instead I get a lecture from you. Thanks anyhow.

Hey I know where you're coming from, Calkulin's kitchen is by far my go to kitchen, it is advanced and some things are a pain to change and figure out, but being such a complete kitchen I can see where the others fall short

Part of why this kitchen is great is because he doesn't spend his free time writing tutorials or making configuration lists and do and dont's, instead his focus is on bringing a rock solid port of whatever it is he's working on, while also setting it up to be customizable

Re: [ Kitchen ][ 1-11 ][ v1.4 ][ 23518 / 21888 / 21056 ] Calkulin's Visual WVGA Kitch

icon123...I'm with you...I still don't know what every package in the kitchen does and how some or most interact with each other. I have been cooking ROM's from Cal's kitchens from the TP1 even before he went to the Visual Kitchen (which was a learning curve in of itself.)

I went thru a lot of trial and error while cooking..and luckily I never did brick a phone. At least you had a repsonse asking about the packages...I was wholly ignored then...so I stopped asking.

I love Cal's kitchen...and I prefer it over some of the other's I tried. I think most need to remember that a lot of us are learning and therefore growing this community...instead of creating a system of noobs versus the elite.

Exactly and that is where someone like yourself with knowledge, experience and patience needs to help us out. When I post my questions or statements, I don't expect Calkulin to drop whatever he is working on to answer. He probably posts one out of every 50 or so posts in his thread. That's where people like you come in to play. However, you rather tell people to go somewhere else for help then help them yourself.

I am suprised though, for how popular this kitchen is that there isn't any documention on how to use it, set it up, customize, etc.

Most of the people who use it have a pretty good understanding and having been using it or some varient for a while. To sit here and try to explain it to everyone that asks really puts a damper on your day. Thats why you can find things like the SSK tutorial or the tutorial over at www.everythingdiamond.info

I personally have spent thousands of hours messing with this kitchen to make it my own and to my flavor. To be honest just spend some good quality and you'll know where things are and what to change.

Click in the device box and click on Touch Pro 2 and then the other stuff will populate. Make sure you check the box "real WM 6.5 AKU".
