Last I knew that ROM has NO COOKIE at all!!!!!!!!

I'm not running any Cookie, and pl0323 is on 1.8.5 & says 2.0 WAS his problem...

This isn't rocket science folks... TONS of people report issues with 2.0, so TRY A DIFFERENT ROM!! 1.8.5 & see if your problems go away.
I have not had CHT2000 freeze my test devices, except for that task widget issue which is pretty documented now. My main issues with CHT2000 were usability glitches. Enough that I only run CHT185 on all my primary users devices for now.

Those that know me know I test thoroughly & push my TP2 to the limits... I rebooted at least 60 times testing this stuff. However, another may have different results based on their ROM/Radio/carrier/cabs/usage/etc..

The few I've seen reporting increases in speed have come from OCT... not msm7kcpuspeed/setcpu.

My opinion only...
For me using WiMoSpeed on these Energy ROMs is mainly out of convenience and quick stability. I no longer have to do registry imports/exports with OCT or mess around with funky mscr scripts with MSM7. I run a simple command line call with the value I want and I'm done. It's entirely possible that MSM7 can engage slightly higher OCs since it an active app vs the passive nature of WiMoSpeed.

I must admit it is cool that you took the time to see which of the current 3 OC apps works best for your setup and report it... might help others to consider the time investment vs gains.

It meant I had to increase my plan from sero to sero premium ($30/500 min to $50/500 min)

So knowing I wanted 4G (despite it being $20 a month more), I had 3 choices: Shift/Evo/Epic

The local corporate sprint store was really slow yesterday so I actually pulled a chair up to the display that had these 3 phones. I spent a hour and 1/2 testing all three. This is what it boiled down to:

Evo (I ranked this 3rd): Blazing fast stock compared to tp2 tweaked, ability to use all the nice new android apps, froyo with flash, new Google maps, better gmail interface, huge screen, I think I can go back to skyfire, thinner, reminds me of an iphone dimensionally, no keyboard

Epic (I bought). I got it for $199 after rebate. Unbelieveable screen, I knew I could root it and upgrade to Froyo with flash, KEYBOARD (it was tough to decide against the thinner evo), SCREEN QUALITY (the main reasons: amazing: bright and stunning). Speedwise the hummingbird is better than the evo's snapdragon.. speedier graphics processor. It's got no HTC sense but I think I can come up with some widgets to look pretty close to HTC's home screen. Keyboard.

Shift: This phone had just arrived. I'll tell you I wasn't even considering it until I tried it. I was impressed but not enough. It did come with Froyo OTB. Doing normal stuff it's as fast as the other two but it feels really good in your hand. The screen is still bigger than the TP2 but it feels smaller (and really nice). How it felt in my hand was the only reason for it's consideration. It too had a keyboard, but in the end it's screen was ... well... just not Samsung AMOLED.

All in all: all three are the same speed... I mean in terms of everyday use. It's benchmarking and processor intense stuff that you only notice slight differences in.

My advice:
-If you're happy with your touch pro 2, keep it.. it's a terrific phone
-If you don't have 4G in you're area.. it's worth keeping sero
-If you want to switch: If you're ok without a keyboard, get the evo
-If you want a keyboard.. decide if the form factor of the shift out weighs the Epics advantages

It's all personal preferences
hey man, you dont know how much this post helps me! i am in a similar situation. i want to give android a try but dont want to lose my $30 sero. ive had my eyes on the epic but i dont want to pay $20 for no 4g service (hell i just recently got 3g lol). so ive decided to stay with my good ol tp2 until something worth me paying an extra $20 a month.

I hear ya. If you just want to try android... run it on your touch pro 2! Here's the thread on how to do it..

Thanks man. I use NRG's ROMs during the day because I need Bluetooth for work. I'm a SysAdmin and do a little driving, and we are required to use headsets which means no NAND during the day.

I'm pretty sure at this rate my NAND will wear out before my 2 years are up, lol. Also, thanks on the VIP! What does that do other than show me as a VIP?
I'm in the same boat. I'd love to run the NAND xandroid test releases (like the ones you are involved in), but BT is still on the devs To Do list and I need BT with all the calls I have with my clients... I'm just continuing to be patience and watch as the devs work continue to work their magic. It's come a long way. I just wish I had time to contribute to efforts like yours.

This happens to me enough when I've tried CHT2000 (on various NGRZ ROMs I've tried) that I just kind of gave up until the CHT team releases an update. There are other glitches that are not consistently reproducible that I run in to, but others seem to have documented on their thread so at least I'm not crazy.

EDIT: Never mind, I see that NRG had problems uploading some of the ROM's.
I do not think it's due to whatever technical hiccup he had... he had one twitter post:

"Leo ROM Upload directory has been wiped out. New ROMs are uploading in the next hour. CHT 2.0 only for now."

Basically I think this round of ROMs will only be CHT2. Likely his next round will be a full release for all flavors. I had I hope he would consider otherwise... but I'm guessing NRGZ is already prepping his next ROM/kitchen update.

Using Winmo Overclock (Energy dec 27)

At one point i was able to reach 710,then suddenly started freezing. Now running back to 691.

How is it that other people report higher than 710? (is it rom dependant?) And how is it that i can no longer run it at 710?

Thanks. I was in the same boat about 2 months ago. Went to the cell store to switch to the HTC desire, but having run android on my TP, then spending about an hour playing with the desire, I realized that I don't like android.

Even cookie 2.0 and max are to much like android for me ( and throw SPB shell in there for good measure). Anyway I got a new TP2 for 50 bucks and am very happy.

I just can't get into the whole widget thing. I guess I am just a sence-itive kind of guy, lol.

Lastly, I think the heady days of 10 to 15 pages of posts a day just to keep up are long past [insert heavy sigh here]. But its still fun and I i still learn something new every week.

Thanks for the input and good luck.

Ok, I have a plug to post. Apologies if this oversteps...

For those that need some extra heavy lifting beyond what the XDA_UC that is built in to the current Energy ROMs or want a slight alternative to the various sashimi mods out there, I have started to help out with benjamminzIS' S4X project.

What is S4X?

In Ben's words:

"I have done some extensive modding of the MortScript from SASHIMI (by bengilah @ www.winmo-experts.com) and XDA_UC (by Noonski here @XDA) and have come up with a couple additions meant mainly for Energy's custom XDA_UC as it lacks some of the features that Noonski's version does, well now you can have ALL THAT & MORE!"

Please see the project over at XDA: [XDA_UC][UC][SASHIMI][S4X] S4X_Auto & S4X_Backup

We could use more input and I could use some testers with the updates I am working on...

Only thing is, NRG's ROM's prior to October aren't configured with NRG's excellent RAM saving Start Menu options. However, I believe you can always remove the original start menu later.
I've done a few tests and Opera doesn't seem to be closing like it used too. Thanks for the advice. I've noticed that the HTC Messaging client lags when I open the keyboard, but that's probably related to something totally different.

Using the Jan 06| 21916 release and it's improved over the aug version!

But I am not happy with the lock screens. I am using the HD version and it cuts the top of the clock off. Anyway to fix this? and other 2 options aren't that great. Can you recommend an alternative to these 3?

thanks and good work!

I know you can edit the lock screen because I had the same problem, however I ended up not using the CHT lock screen because it isn't as fast as the built in Windows 6.5 lock screen. All I did to get the built in lock screen is turn on CHT lock screen, reboot and then turn it off. I don't know if it's a glitch or something but after turning off CHT lock the default Windows lock screen is enabled.
