I'm new around here, just recently got a TP2 on Sprint and suffered through their WM6.1 ROM and upgraded to a 'stock 6.5' ROM. After playing with that a whole few hours I've been on the 'Energy Standard Cookie' for much of the day.

The ROM is fairly cool, however I have what are likely 'newby' questions. I've attempted to scan SOME of the MULTITHOUSAND PAGE post with little success in finding answers:

1. 'Carrier Provisioning' ?? I hear of people doing this after flashing a ROM but for the life of me, can't seem to find a direct reference to a program or command to do it. I have made and gotten phone calls since flashing. The phone seems to work. Humm...

2. Speaking of 'provisioning', Sprint had a 'profile update' and 'PRL Update' icons on their release, can't seem to find them on the ROM. I did find 'a link' somewhere in the 1000's of pages on this thread - the link has what appears to be multiple programs with simular names. Which one? I downloaded one and installed it, still no update buttons. Help?

3. Email and SMS mail: The buttons on the front home screen don't seem to do anything. I do have 3 email addresses setup, however the home links don't seem to work.

3.1 I sent myself SMS mail with links for some downloads, the phone got them and i finally had to add a quick link to the WM messaging application to be able to read 'them'. Clicking on the 'messages' was of no help, clicking on the alert was equaly no help. Help? how do I get messaging to work?

4. I've never used Twitter so I don't have good or bad things to say about it, other than I can't GET RID of the silly "T" on the bottom of the screen. I've edited/turned everything off and only have: Home, Twitter and Settings left. Twitter does not even SHOW as being a 'stuck' option in the editor. Help! How do I get rid of it?

5. Email: How do I MARK EMAIL AS READ without opening it? I don't like seeing the new mail icon when I don't in fact have new mail.

6. Sprint had a link/links to THEIR website where you could check your usage, buy crud and the like but can't find it anywhere.

7. I've seen other folks talking about needing a 'keyboard fix' but I'm not quite sure I also need it.

I'll be thankfull for any help or guidance the members/readers of this forum/thread can provide,

Mark.

(this website has a WAY to short of a timeout, I can't read more than a few pages without being logged off, the above message I was logged in when I started only to get forwarded to a BLANK page and logged out when I hit the post button!! AAARRRRGGGG!!!!@)
I'm sure most of you just knew I was having 'newby problems' and for the most part I was....

Did a hard reset and edited my OC_UC files - fixed the 'twitter' issue.

Oddly, my messaging/email link problems went away when I removed the USB cord.... strange... works AWESOME. Completely a new phone. Something that MS should of done LONG ago.

SO now all I'm currently needing to get going is the Sprint 'profile update' and 'PRL Update' icons.

Any links?

Go back to the "CDMA TP2 Upgrades" forum where you see this thread listed with the others. You will see a small paperclick icon. click it, and you will see all the cabs in the thread listed. Download the sprint prl cab.

Re: |RHODCMDA|.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.- Energy -.¸¸.·´¯ * |Aug 28| 21914|23127 * Sense 2018

I posted this over at xda-developers yesterday, I'm guessing from the response I got that I should have posted it here since this is a CDMA Verizon phone.

I'm currently running the Aug28.2010 Rom, but I've had the issue with any past rom I've tried, Jul -> Present.

Before I run the carrier provisioning, all the keys work, they are just mapped wrong. After I provision for Verizon, the Fn and Caps Lock keys stop working in most applications, basically everything but the Home screen, and I mean only the first tab. I took the advice of the FAQ and installed RhodiumKbdControl, However, I could not use this to get my Fn or Caps Lock keys to work again.

So I dug apart the energy_verizon.cab, I noticed that it sets the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME\KeyboardLayouFiles\07F F to eT9.Rhodium.VERIZON_WWE.kmap.txt. There are a few similarly named files throughout the system, but this one is MIA.

Temporarily I set the registry key in question to eT9.Rhodium.WWE.kmap.txt. This fixed my Fn and Caps Lock keys, but brought me back to the layout that didn't match my keys.

Attached is a picture of my keyboard, from a Verizon Touch Pro 2 purchased in the USA. Also attached is a layout file that matches the keyboard exactly, there is one exception, I added Fn+MailBox -> SMS. That is the only key combo not labeled on the keyboard.

I spent the better part of yesterday trying to figure this out, Hopefully it is helpful.

Thanks!!

First i would update to NRGZ Aug 28 release. Im using the Aug 28 23127 CHT Dinik Glass rom, with the pagepool changed to 14, and its by far a much more stable rom than the last few releases. I had some Sense/Screen freezing issues and call hangup freezing issues with the last few 23XXX CHT Dinik Glass releases, but so far the new Aug 28 release hasnt had a single issue or bug for me yet. Sense hasnt frozen once and its running extremely smooth with good battery life

If u still have the same problem with the new Aug 28 release and since u have u have already done virtually everything then the only things i can think of are its a rom specific problem, but since ive never experienced anything like that and my friend whos running the same rom hasnt either, maybe its a rom/carrier issue. Im on Cricket and my friends on Verizon. If i had the problem i would hard-reset and then setup the device manually without using any provisioning apps or setup cabs or install wizards that way u know its not a cab thats causing any problems or provisioning problem. Plus, u know the settings are correct and the only settings that are altered are the ones u alter. After all sometimes cabs and provisioning apps also install some files/stuff that can cause problems with certain roms and/or software. If the new release doesnt solve the problem, and all the above mentioned solutions dont work, and manual setup doesnt correct the problem then im clueless. Sorry. I think that u will like the new release tho, it did solve my only issue, which no one could on the forum. Good luck.

It sounds like you just need the correct keyboard mapping cab. There are different keyboard mapping cabs for Verizon and Sprint because their keyboards arent identical. Depending on the rom, and its default keyboard setup, is what determines what keyboard mapping cab u need. If u search for Touch Pro 2 keyboard mapping cabs u should find what u need. I have a Sprint T.Pro 2 and i have to use a Sprint keyboard mapping cab on NRG roms. Its just a simple cab installation. Hope this helps.

Running the Aug 28 23XXX Cookie Dinik ... ran into the issue where the phone locked up after a 10+ minute phone call... had to Soft Reset to get to work again.

I remember seeing a couple people mentioning this over the past couple of weeks, any ideas on how to fix.

thanks.

3matthew3

Other than that running really smooth with a PP of 16.

Im so in love with this ROM Im done flashing every weekend. Well at least until I see some significant upgrades. Since 8/13 the builds work & look pretty much the same for me. So for me personally there is no need to keep flashing. I love this CHT w/ Dinik and its working flawless for me

I have an Sprint keyboard very similar to yours. However the text file has some noticeable differences. For starters your have 9 keys in the bottom row and the code only has 8. It seems you are missing a line of code for the matching key.
I am attaching the config text layout for my sprint keyboard, maybe you could use it as reference. Copy only the code corresponding to the 5 row and the adapt it to your preference. The 4th COLUMN is the one that affects the FN key press.
The registry value is correct, HKLM/Software/Tegic/eT9/IME/KeyboardLayoutFiles
find the
07FF key and change the value to the text file you placed in the windows directory.

Ask to some verizon TP2 owner to find and copy their text file from windows directory and place it here for you. Maybe you can sort out what are the differences with yours.
