Re: {BigMaxSense ROM}☼15 New Widgets☼23563☼21899 ☼ Quickest, Most Customizable Manila

I flashed this rom yesterday because i really wanted to play with 1.03. I have a lot of gripes though. i used task 29 and cleared storage, yet this rom still lags like no other. I've been continuously soft resting because my ram is constantly in the 80's and 90's!!! Moreover, trying to run taskfacade on this rom has caused every single app i had open to crash several times in the one day i have been using it.

the problem I'm having now is that i cant flash the new NRG because the phone freezes and needs a reset every time i try to connect to active sync. furthermore, I'm getting a connection error while trying to connect it while in bootloadermode for the first time with any ROM ever!

Re: {BigMaxSense ROM}☼15 New Widgets☼23563☼21899 ☼ Quickest, Most Customizable Manila

Developers like feedback, right?

I think this ROM has potential. It looks like no other, (Mobile Shell aside...) and takes a different approach to everyday use.

I tried to like this, but I'm gonna have to leave it for now. It's extremely laggy, most of the widgets don't work how I assume they should (I may not be using them right, but it should be more intuitive.) Like the contact 'wheel' widget; it doesn't do anything when I push it. When you click on SMS/Missed call/etc Alert, you have to touch the little tiny icon, instead of anywhere on that alert. The 'turn upside down to lock' thing is kinda gimmicky, I miss the S2U. 50% of the times when I slide the keyboard out for texting or anything really, either the screen doesn't rotate, the on-screen keyboard stays up, icons are in the way, or the phone freezes. I cannot do anything with Opera; freezes. I could not get the phone to be recognized via usb while set to Disk Transfer.

I'm sure many of these issues could be fixed, or a fix is being worked on. I'm just a noob, and this is only the 5th ROM I've tried. I'm not bitc^ing about anything, just letting you know the experience this noob had with it. I could not do anything like this, and I appreciate and thank you for the time spent on it.

I'll try it again someday!

If i was having that many issues i would probably steer clear of this ROM... I use this very ROM daily and have had no issues or a RAM experience like you are describing... furthermore i have not heard ANY complaints as extreme as you are putting it..

Sorry it didnt work out for you..

lol dont get frustrated i usually have the same problems with NRG roms. usually after first flash the rom freezes up during the initial customization period, or right after i do a clearstorage. ive never gotten active sync to USB connect as well.

you might check your xda_uc folder. there might be something in there causing a freeze up. just a suggestion, cause i honestly have no idea.

i would say with any of the MaxSense roms, the available memory is always anywhere from 10%-30%. its the way MaxSense runs. as far as i can tell, the manila application runs, then MaxSense runs on top of it and tells manila how to operate. the available memory is usually to an extent, incorrect. since MaxSense and manila run at the same time, the amount of ram the system believes it requires is doubled, giving you a false number.

ive never run taskfascade, but the built in one works just fine. its been fine tuned to help keep what you need open and everything else close-able. only memory program i would recommend would be something like htc addicts clean ram. works on a schedule and shuts down all programs but necessary system files.

I honestly think it runs almost like a VirtualMachine, or even paging file does. it automatically allocates a set amount of ram, but never even gets close to using that much of it. I have ran MaxSense since day one, and i have never noticed a lag or lack of memory, and i play Smartgear for its gameboy and genesis and nintendo emulator and Morphgear for its snes constantly. they are both resource hogs, and i havent even had to lower my video quality or adjust the frame rate to have seamless gameplay.

the cake is a lie(anybody lol?)

the numbers you read arent exactly correct, but its as close as the system knows how to interpret this kind of operation. before you begin to get frustrated, give us a holler. if your missing something, need something, or not having a good time, let us know and we will do our best to try to help out. its what we are here for!

Yes i do like feedback and thanks for it..

have not heard one person ever say it was laggy or extremely laggy...

most of the widgets dont work? like which ones? i know of 2 or maybe 3 not functioning correctly (most implies over half and there are 20 something widgets)
auto lock works great for me
the landscape is a little buggy but if you take it just a bit slower it works fine.. never had it lock up
i use opera everyday to look up numbers and such
i also plug in my phone daily to sync via active sync and storage card and it always works

sorry it didnt work out for you

and I second Big's take on the ROM. First, you need to learn the new UI. give it two days at least. One gripe, though, he is right, Opera does lock up the phone. I just used Skyfire, and it works fine.

one thing to mention Big, let everyone know (whom does not already know) that they should NOT install apps willy nilly or ten at a time; rather, one at a time, give it a day-see how it interacts with the MaxSense ROM-who knows, perhaps the above gent is having problems specifically due to the taskfacade-I checked it out, but was afraid to install is as it may screw up MY setup!

Just my 2 cents! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

amjman

Re: {BigMaxSense ROM}☼15 New Widgets☼23563☼21899 ☼ Quickest, Most Customizable Manila

random question,

is there a way to completely get rid of all SIP keyboards? like just get rid of them all together, without having to cook them out of a rom? i never use it, and it seems to cause more aggravations than i care to shake a stick at.

another thing, does anybody have file explorer freeze ups whenever going through the SD card? i recently got an 8 gig PNY (4) card and it seems to lock up, and if i turn the screen off it wont come back on. would this be more related to my SD card?

also on the SD cards, what is the best partition type to use for a faster read and write? i can go NTFS, FAT32, or exFAT. i guess ill try them all out and see for sure.

I have the same problem with the freezing on SD card while scrolling. It lasts maybe 15-20 seconds. This is the only ROM that this happens on.
