...this could be a USB failure. When you connect to a PC, the device should prmpt you for what type of connection you want to establish, regardless of ActiveSync's presence, unless you disabled this.

To test, put your phone into bootloader [the tricolor screen] and connect the device to the PC via a USB cable. If the white area of the bootloader screen says "USB" you're good to flash. If it says "Serial"...no good.

You can try a different USB cable as a cheap and easy last resort...if that doesn't work, your usb may be shot.

You'll likely need an SD Card Reader and will want to read th thread on flashing from the SD.

I had to do this very recently to relock my phone for repair because the port died. PM me if you need help or direction...but those are a decent start.

Just load it all on the sd and flash it all from there. All ya need is total commander stock rom nbh file & the relocker nbh. I have done it tht way three times with no issues. Look for the sticky thread on flashin from sd and give er a go.

I am more sure now the problem is with the ringer volume.
Went through all the ringer volume keys I could think of and I set them to LOUD!
After exiting the reg and going back in the keys are back to 0 or very low again.
Even setting the reg keys and calling right then doesn't work.
Set keys and soft reset doesn't work because the keys will not hold.

If I am wrong about this then I am out of ideas.
Not sure what is changing these keys so fast.

Going to uninstall volumeX and try it again.

and also how to turn off the autocomplete word thing. I cant type my email address cause it keeps trying to fix it

Yea, Root...if you get to a point of having failed ringers again, set your volume to vibrate and call yourself...it should ring [um, vibrate]. With the ringers still failing, go into Sounds and set your ringer to "vibrate only" ...does it ring or not?

Im trying to fail out my ringers so I can finish testing this. The workaround for now, seems to be to set the phone to vibrate. Not really great, but seems to work 100% even if the ringers are failing otherwise.

...it's an illusion, your hands are HUGE! JK - what ROM version has this tiny onscreen keyboard everyone keeps talking about? Both 2.5 ROMs have the regular old jammy...or they do on mine.

Im not too sure where my thinking really is with this but something like this http://solsie.com/2007/01/ring-tone-...indows-mobile/ wouldnt work huh? I guess being that its a problem with the system sound....im just really confused and trying to through stuff out there.

I think we're narrowing it down specifically to the ringer volume, somehow, setting itself to silent...so the phone doesn't ring or vibrate, but all other notification sounds are in tact [because the device sounds are set and fine].

You can turn your volume down to Vibrate and it should alert you of incoming calls, if your ringers are failing.

...when I can get my ringers to fail again, I'll keep messing with it.

If it is an autocomplete using the hardware keyboard you can press FN and then spacebar and make sure the setting is on ABC. This should disable the word suggestion for you.

i having some real issues with my ring tones... seems to be more than eveyone else.

if i change my ringer to Sony it goes back to glass after a while. Also I can not get it to vibrate on a new call unless the phone is set to vibrate mode for everything. if i set the ringer to vibrate only... nothing.
