* Anyone who switches from a lightweight stock-like ROM to one loaded with apps and features that run in the background all day long is going to notice a drop in battery life. Welcome to reality, get used to it, quit blaming the chefs.

* Anyone who installs high-performance software like EnergyROM, but fails to implement well known power-saving tweaks is going to notice a drop in battery life. Welcome to free will, get used to it, quit blaming the chefs.

Some chefs will cook their ROM with all the known power-saving tweaks, and some gear for performance instead. A chef could claim to do both, and attempt to do both, but in reality every tweak is a trade-off of some sort -- a little give here, a little take there. That's life. For example, EnergyROM is cooked to operate with the backlight at 100% while on battery. Now, that looks great, but do you have any idea how much *extra* power that sucks? Here, for your perusal, are some 'current' values from tBattery while the phone was idle (unscientific random samples):

Think about that for a minute. At idle with the backlight unchanged after a flash, your current pull is 50-100% more than it would be if you just reduced the backlight somewhat. Do you keep your phone in your pocket? If you do, I bet you have a screen protector like S2U2, or Pocketshield, or are using the built-in WM lockscreen -- well, everytime it 'bumps' something and wakes up in your pocket at 100% backlight, guess what is happening...drain drain drain...

*** Anyone who thinks they have noticed a significant ROM-based difference in battery life between the recent EnergyROM builds is a shining example of how misunderstood is the whole battery life issue. Can you say Placebo effect? A chef could 'say' they cooked in new battery-saving features and a percentage of the community would report back that it's true. NRGZ28 has stated already that there are not any major changes int he recent build variations that should have impacted battery life. So, unless you are convinced that the SYS/XIP updates are causing massive fluctuations in battery performance, you gotta stop suggesting that 'this build' has good battery life and 'that build' has bad battery life -- it just aint like that.

Ok, so you want something more technical than all that...how about this post from ShinySideUpAZ:
It will very importan denoted the tested ROM with this program was 7/22.
So, wath really changed in the later version about drain Battery!!!
And we don't have infromation about wath Radio it used for this test.

HOWEVER, the greatest consumer of power in any of our cell phones is the backlight. To that end Lumos Wizard is your best tool for staying off the cord. As an experiment two days ago I shut off Lumos, or more correctly didn't install it with the July 22 update, and monitored my battery usage at the end of the day. Now with a decent amount of calls and tweaking done when you get a new ROM I ended day one with 40% battery left. On day 2 I reflashed and also loaded Lumos Wizard. Day 2 had a basically the same level of usage. I ended the day at 76% battery.

You are blaming the ROM for battery issues.
You are blaming the ROM for signal issues.
You are blaming the ROM for call quality issues.

You are asking the chef to fix things in the ROM that are not broken.

I think you are setting yourself up for a disappointment here...but maybe I misread something.
So Sorry but I am not blaming!! I exposed my experience testing with our Aurora and other ROM'S trying to know wath's the problem about drain Batt in exess.
So, can you explain us wath's the reason because some people have better experience with 7/22 about saving Battery?

Active Sync (Locked message) issue.
When I plug the phone into USB and select ACTIVESYNC the unlock screen comes up.
The problem is, the unlock screen has NO unlock button or slider just the digit pad for the unlock code.
Chris.

OK, I'll bite. When you say "not even close" what are you talking about that this ROM does faster than any other??

I am not trying to argue, I am genuinely curious WTF you're talking about so I can test it myself??

I have also tried every single ROM here at least once, & I fail to see how this one does anything even slightly faster than the other good ROM's so clue me in on what to look for??

If that statement you made is true, I would GLADLY give up some battery life for it but I'm honestly not seeing it.......

LoL Wow...I can't believe you just went off on Jmorton like that lol. Do you really think he hasn't tried out every ROM out there??? please check his # of post and "Thanks" given to him. I would definitely listen and take his recommendations on a ROM before yours.

Listen...this ROM isn't any special speed ROM or anything like that. Unless you have some super human senses there won't be any huge difference in speed than alot of ROMs out there. Please explain how this ROM is "faster'" than other ROMs out there?

Saying all that...I like the ROM. I PM'd John about it and told him to try it. No huge problems besides the battery issue. It's gotten better since my new radio and hopefully Lumos will help even more. So i'm satisfied with it. But all of you NRG nut huggers need to realize that this ROM isn't for everyone and accept their damn opinion and instead of *****ING at them about how great and almighty this ROM is offer some damn advice!!!

Re: |HERM|ROM|6.5|WWE| ** EnergyROM 'Aurora' (23016) ** || Built August 1st ||

All,

I have been flashing this rom (and updates) for the last couple weeks. First off, love its speed and menuing etc. I've been getting lockups lately during phone calls. The phone really doesnt lockup but the backlight turns off and doesnt come back on with the power button. I know this is the case because I can hear noises and vibration when the volume buttons are lowered/raised.

I saw the posts on page 347 about lockups but this is a different issue.

Thanks in advance

It does however align perfectly if your just clicking the icon itself instead of the 'X', so like I said no big deal at all, not sure if its even worth the trouble of fixing. Anyways, LOVE THE ROM NRGZ28 thanks for all the hard work

If you have tried the ROM and it does not work for you for whatever reason and everyone has tried to help you to no avail -- please just stop b*tching about your precious battery life and find another ROM...LOL There are more things in the world to worry about than battery life of a phone.

I don't think the "X" is for you to click on per se, you need to click the actual icon to remove it from the list.

Bootup Speed Side my side any other ROM from a freshly flashed ROM it's faster. (yes I have tested, I have two TP's). Another thing I check for speed is, when clicking on the Sound and Notifications, then clicking into Notifications, this ROM is always on top. General speed with accessing the menus and pulling up apps, like google maps. Albiet it is not scientific, but it works for me.
