BTW, it's not broken - I actually left it that way intentionally (task prioritization). No one should be using this software at work (before, during, or after). It's only because I'm not your mother/father or your boss and that some people have proxies in non-work environments that I'm willing to make it work in this manner. Quote:

Here comes another know-it-all answer: I worked in the Air Force as a communications and navigations specialist for ten years and in my experience, never was able to affect equipment while on the plane using all sorts of neato gadgets. I was naughty and did a lot of playing when bored on nightshift. This included (but wasn't limited to) splicing an mp3 player in to the PA system and utilizing handheld GPS while onboard. (and I had a much beefier unit than the Mogul.) I was never able to produce any disturbance in equipment. The planes I worked on upgraded to permanent GPS modules over time, so that killed my fun. I never went as far as to play with electronics RIGHT ON an antenna. Did Mythbusters do that? Even so, it would be tough to get to most antennas in flight. lol. Speaking of antennas (receiving), their placement on aircraft is a direct result of: #1. Testing (duh) #2. Direction of incoming signals (line-of-site to ground, ionosphere, other aircraft, or space) #3. Hazardous emmissions. - some equipment will cause you to become... uh... steril? At least that what I was taught. Keep in mind I'm government trained and could be brainwashed from too much time in front of the weather radar dish.

It's not easy to generate a big enough flux to distrub modern aircraft equipment. The biggest hazard is actually in little planes where magnetic compasses are still relied on. The FAA rules out electronics usage on aircraft because while "normal" equipment is not likely to cause any harm, people knowingly and unknowingly use all kinds of compromised equipment. Plus, no engineer is ever going to say a signal couldn't be interfered with when you throw in the posibility of improperly-protected/improperly-functioning aircraft equipment. |

(I understand this is tangential, PM me?) Edit - nevermind, saw your other post on it. "turn of auto reconnect on it" - weird, but worth a shot for sure. Last edited by schettj; 03-25-2008 at 06:20 PM. |

Oooh! Oooh! I found a bug!
Quote:
If I have Bluetooth powered "ON", I get a "limited connectivity" IP address on my computer when I try to start Internet Sharing. If I turn Bluetooth "OFF", I can get an IP address fine. Actually, this bug has a very similar feel to a bug that occurred in a different ROM for the Apache a while ago - Maybe when the first WM6 ROMs came out, so the fix may be the same (if someone actually knows what it is). Thanks for listening, ¿GotJazz?

If the public had any idea how jimmy-rigged equipment is sometimes, there would be a lot less passengers willing to fly. (Not that it stops me, but I'm brave like that.) Whatever gets you past your shift is good enough, right? Temp-repairs become permanent ones. Silicone sealant to fix stripped screws. (Because the book says an exterior panel must have all screws in place. It doesn't say HOW they must be in place.) Whenever I watch the news and some aircraft part has fallen off, I always think about that. |

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)
Oh geez! I threw the thread off topic!
Just a quick question: is there a way to put the .nb image files for the bootscreen manually into the .nbh file? I ask because 1) the kitchen can do this automatically 2) there is a myriad of tools in the kitchen 3) I can't get no2chem's 5059 basekit to create a ROM, even with default settings checked 4) I am very pressed for time to customize my ROM, so even if this was working for me, it would be a half-*** job on my part. I'd appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction on which tool to use to insert the .nb image into my ROM manually. Great work guys, you've all outdone yourselves here. @ggurusa, I applaud your refuting of Jeff Kirvin's complaints... @Jeff, please just relax for a week. The program has been out for 2.5 days. Hop onto the IRC channel and someone in there (probably NexVision, see my sig) is bound to be able to assist you. If not, it seems like you've already gotten plenty of offers to get this working. |
