Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
Update!!! I'm getting a new phone! (whether it's new or Refurb I don't know yet)
Here are the steps I took to get my phone replaced. 1) Walked into a local store and tried to explain to the CSR what the issue was. This resulted in the "deer in the headlights" look. The CSR gave me the following number: 800-922-0204, option 3. This phone number is what resulted in the post above this. (ie; waste of time) 2) Do not call HTC, they'll refer you back to VZW 3) I visited a different store and explained to the CSR what my issue was, how it happened 2 weeks after purchasing the phone and how there is NO other damage to the phone. (this is vital) The CSR looked over my phone, and noted my account that he had confirmed the issue and that the phone does not appear to have been abused. Since every Verizon store that I have been to doesn't carry the 6900 (maybe due to the Storm release and upcoming Diamond) he suggested I call the following number 866-406-5154 It's all about your presentation on this one. I called, told the rep what my issue was, that it had been confirmed by a local manager, and that I was simply calling to finalize the order of my replacement phone. 5 minutes later, I was done and I should have the phone by Monday.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
I've seen the cracked case a couple of times so far in my store, including our display model lol... We haven't been notified in our systems that it's an "official" known issue, that I know of... I've had mine since May and (knock on wood) haven't experienced the cracked case. I also use vibrate and ring and have dropped it in my driveway numerous times. Most techs know it to be an "unofficial" known issue and will help you out. If you get an A-hole, just call csr service until you get someone good =)

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
Just thought I'd throw my two cents in...I've had my 6900 for about a week and have yet to notice a crack. I've used vibrate multiple times also, if that says anything.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
What is the warranty for VZW phones, 1 year Verizon on parts and workmanship??
I have a hard case because I don't like the white VZW case and I just noticed a crack. |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
Verizon offers a 1 year warrenty on 'defective' devices. If you buy the phone straight from them then it is easy to get replacments and if you go through too many they can do a multi exchange to a new device. If you didn't you probrably can get by with getting a replacment, but when it comes time for a new phone that could be kinda hard...

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
Hi! I've got a 6900 that I've had for 6 months with no cracks whatsoever... But, the screen now has two spots that are constantly pressed, making it rather hard to navigate...
I'm thinking of doing a warranty exchange, should I keep my case since it hasn't developed any cracks yet and transfer it to the new phone? Or should I just pull apart the one I have and see if I can fix the screen? Thanks! |
