Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

trd if you replace the housing you may void the warranty, i would not give them any excuse to void the warranty. the refurb replacement phone they gave me had the void sticker gone so if you go with the replacement and they send you a refurb you could change the housing. that way you could replace the housing if you needed warranty coverage.

on the last post from the person with bell sounds like your getting the run around. raise hell with them. vzw has a 1 year warranty on the phone they sell. if it is a problem with phone they will replace or fix within that one year. w/in 30 days of purchase they will give you a new phone after that it is a refurb phone. they take your cracked phone replace the case and send you out a refurb with new case that then cracks again apparently... bell owes you a replacement phone from the time you purchase that phone not any other date they arbitrarily set. that is bs. they wanted you out of the store. dont take that from them.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Thanks, I have a contract update in a couple of months so it does not really matter for me if they void the warranty, I have spares. but thanks for the info. ordered and going to replace soon. this crack is really bothering me and the paint is peeling around the crack

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

I have cracks in my phone and am getting the run around. Verizon is saying they dont know about this issue and that it is not a manufaturers defect. I asked for my reps phone number and was given the wrong phone number... one for Di Tech..

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

I've done a little bit more research on this and I think I found the cause. After going through several of these phones for myself and our staff, the cracks appear just after the phone is heavily used and heats up. We have been able to reproduce this by running the sling player while the phone is plugged in. The phone will get unusually hot. The white outer case then expands along with the clear plastic shield that covers the display. Once the phone starts to cool of the plastic shield and outer-casing cools and contracts at different rates. This then causes the outer shell to contract faster then the inner shield and pushes out against the white plastic and eventually cracks.

I've been unable to convince Verizon to replace any of our phones without the insurance, however maybe someone can demonstrate what we found and they might just maybe take some action.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Does this crack affect its functionality? or is it just looks? I was gonna buy this device in a few days but this cracking issue is bothering me. Does the crack eventually develop upto the point to mess up with the phone itself anyhow? If it's just cosmetic issue, i could just get by with it i guess.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Its mainly annoying I've not see it bad enough to cause functional problems. I ordered the kit posted above as well. The phone is a keeper as long as that's resolved, with the new ROM and the GPS hack there isn't much more I could ask for out of a phone.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

I ordered the same one from the same vendor. you will probably get it faster than me because I ordered it on the 26th. but with the directions it should not be that hard. also my water indicator and the void sticker is screwed anyway so it is fine

I've had my vogue now for almost 2 months and have used vibrate repeatedly, i use the touchresponse program over at xda allowing haptic feedback, and i have even dropped it a few times and no cracks whatsoever.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Mine has no cracks (yet), but my wife's had to be replaced, at our cost!
