Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)

So you could immediately tell that it was the good screen? What difference did you see between the two? I went to my local Sprint corporate store today. I told them about this issue and ask them if I could have mine replaced with a "good" one. They said they've never heard of this issue with the Vogue but if i'm not satisfied with my screen they can have the phone replaced. They only had one left in stock but it had the same exact screen as mine (same appalling viewing angle). There was not point in taking than one so I told them I'll come back later when they get a new shipment. Is there any way to tell whether it's the good screen or not from the serial number on the box? |

For a problem that neither manufacturer nor carrier has ever officially admitted, the store has no obligation to let you open all of their new packages and check the screen. So I call it YMMV, if you have nice store staff or someone who actually knows what you are talking about, you may have a shot. |

What's nice, is you can check MANY boxes without ruining anything. You can tell with the plastic still on the screen. I could tell instantly, and so could the rep, simply by looking at the HTC boot splash... then, once it got into Windows, it was breath-taking... |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
yeah, until this thread, I had no idea... went to a Verizon store yesterday... yes there is a big difference in viewing angle acceptance. but its probably not enough for me to try to exchange my 8-month-old Touch....
is there any truth to the rumor that the "good" screen is worse in direct sunlight than the "bad" screen ? (my screen is pretty horrible in sunlight, so I can't imagine the "good" old being worse...) |

on my bad screen, it didn't matter what I did, I couldn't see it when the sun was out... |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Does the hardware version in the Device Information section mean anything? I have a bad screen and it says 0001. For what it's worth, I went into the Verizon store and snapped a few blurry comparison shots.

My hardware version is the same... and yeah, the Verizon one looks just like the good Sprint one...
I bet the Verizon people LOVE to see people come in with Sprint versions that have terrible screens... +1 for Verizon, I guess... |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Well, I had paid for a replacement for my cracked screen and got the bad one. Since its been less than 30 days, I got Sprint to send me a replacement for the replacement (the only store within 25 miles around does not have any for me to inspect first). Based on this thread's poll, it would seem like I have a 50/50 shot of getting a good one. Based on the posts here and my experience (I've personally seen 4 bad ones and no good ones), I think the odds are much, much worse.

Based on my experience, you have maybe a 10-15% of getting a good one through Sprint... If you are talking about an actual replacement screen by itself, I bet it's much lower... they tend to use the cheapest parts available for repairs... (so does every company.) |
