Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
I have a mogul and an original launch Touch. The touch has the bad screen, I also have a spare unused mogul is it possible to take the screen without the digitizer from the mogul and put it in the touch? Dimensions are the same but not sure of the connectors and would like to know before disassembling.

Anyways, my Alltell manufacturered on Xmas 25-DEC-2007 has a good screen, compared to my Sprint manufactuered in 17-JAN-2008 does not. If I boost up the brightness on both, they are viewable under some direct Sunlight. The Alltel is a tad clearer.. But IMHO unless you are viewing them from an angle, there is no reason to feel bad for having the "bad" screen. -CC

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
vertical viewing angle becomings a big problem in landscape mode, your eyes see different colors as they are seeing the screen differently, this is a huge distracting effect. If you take turns closing your right/left eye, you can see they are seeing different colors. I should have said to watch the video first in the poll, I think a lot of people assumed they had the "good screen". The bad screen is not bad in a general sense, just extremely crappy viewing angles.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
I am having a hard time believing the numbers of the poll because of my personal experience:
Since November I have had 6 replacement Touches, all with the bad screen. I recently went to 5 Sprint stores and saw a total of 11 phones and all of them had bad screens. When I told the sales people what I was talking about all of them looked at me like I was a problem customer until I brought one from a mall store to the Verizon store and they were amazed at the difference. All he had to say was "Wow, I'm glad I got the Mogul instead of the Touch." When I asked him if he could help me now that he's seen the difference he told me that since I have had so many replacements all he could do was some sort of "opt out" and that I could get another phone for the price it would be if I got it with a new contract. So now my plan is to just wait it out until the Diamond comes out, sell my touch and buy the Diamond. It just really pisses me off that this phone could be a really great phone if they just made it right. |

I think a lot of people just assume they have a good screen. I know i do, as i have no basis for comparison, and i can switch mine to landscape and view it with out any hindrances. |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Yeah, I figured the "Good Screen" percentages are because most people just don't know, and another thing I noticed is that when you turn it to landscape mode watching Sprint TV, the gray/black channel listing kind of messes with my eyes. I really really want to like this phone but I'm having a hard time. It may be time to switch to the Mogul.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
For guys who are still driving around @ $4/gallon gas price, please stop wasting your time and effort on this gamble. Until now, there's no clue out for determing which one is good or which one is bad. You can't guess from the manufacture date or anything thing. Unless HTC is fully aware of this and willing to make a change, all you can do is keeping driving around and bet on next store. And I really do not think it's worth the effort.
