Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
My first impression of QuickGPS is also VERY good.
I got a lock in my house last night (never got a lock in the house before) and this morning, outside, I got a lock in about 10-15 seconds. Yesterday (without QGPS), it took 2 minutes. Sometimes though, if the GPS was recently used at the same location, I think it locked easier, so I'm not 100% ready to celebrate QGPS, but if the first impression holds, then there's not really so much of a need for aGPS. Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I'm pretty sure I've followed the directions explicitly (several times), but still don't see the desired results (I don't think!).
Using Vzw HTC Touch Pro, did the following (note changes to documented procedure) 1. Because I couldn't get this to work, started by clearing memory. 2. download lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab and put on device 3. install lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab 7. use File Explorer to navigate to lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab; execute 8. reset device 9. Dial *228 option 1 10. reset your device 11. Install HTC GPS Tool 12. Did soft reset 13a. Settings >> SYSTEM >> External GPS 13b. Programs Tab- GPS Program Port: Com4 13c. Hardware Tab- GPS Hardware Port: None, Baud Rate: 4800 13d. Access Tab- Checkmark on "Manage GPS automatically" 14. Settings >> PHONE/Options/Services/Location set to LOCATION ON 15. Open up HTC GPS Tool. Set Chip to Q 7500 and mode to Cold Start then set baud to 4800 and open port. The GPS tool never locates satellites. It just runs. I've let it run outdoors up to 10 minutes, but nothing ever shows up on the satellites screen. Am I missing a step somewhere? Thanks! |

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
bacmb,
I think you skipped this step (see post #1 in this thread). 7. use gsfinder, total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe 8. reset your device as needed You do that after you execute bored's cab. Also, if it's not clear, you navigate you windows ppst.exe, execute it and follow the prompts. Then, when testing make sure you are outside and give it a good 3-5 minutes the first time. Also, having just installed QGPS yesterday, so far the results are amazing. You might want to look at the posts last night about that and install that as well. But, probably make sure you get GPS running without that first, just to keep the variables down. Bored, I think it may be worth adding the sdkcerts and the qgps cab to the first post and make that officially part of the instructions. I've been getting near instant locks today, since I've installed that cab. The difference is truly night and day, so far. Last edited by lexluthor; 01-06-2009 at 03:35 PM. |

after you install my cab you have to navigate to windows/PPST.exe and execute that... then it will soft reset once it's done.... once rebooted setup your device and all should work fine |
