yea I boiled my cover a couple weeks back and I got the same result (no shrinkage)

i saw the palm pre preview and was like wow.. i hate windows...

so since i no longer cared about my touch pro i gave this mod a try on my only battery cover....

i put half the bottle of liquid dye ... and filled up the cap three times with water... put on stove and heated to a steam ... right below a boil...

threw cover in after putting tape on lens areas... just to play it safe

saw cover turn purple... i said oh boy... it better get darker... i just left in there longer... for about 20 to 30 minutes.... took out cover.. rinsed off and perfect black... the inside is another story but who cares about that... the outside was perfect.... washed all the dye off with water in sink ... then rubbed it with a paper towel and all done and looking real OEM... i defintely recommend this to everyone... i chose the basic black and boy it is sleek... better then the original silver...

the only issue i have now is the smell of it ... how long still that goes away... right now the phone is sitting on my desk and i smell the dye... !

takes a day or two for the smell to dissipate

Same here with fading. It's turning redish in the bottom corners. Looks like I need to re-dye.

No fading what so ever and its been a couple of months now. All crispy and looking good so far.

This thing really works!!! Looks flawless like I bought the battery door this color to me. My wife even said it looked just like when i first got the phones. I like the contrast of red and black on the diamond also posting pics for others. Took longer to clean up than actually dye them used the powder dye i got it from micheal's $2.29 but was able to dye like 6 covers 3 at a time. It also dyed the inside but again who cares no tape on lens whole process took about 30 mins including clean up hands and everything place down lots of paper towels to avoid a mess. Really nice find!

I've been to a bunch of Sprint stores both Corp and non and I have not scored a extra cover yet.
The corp store told me "if they did have any they wouldn't be able to give or sell me one".

I'm still waiting for the user KSEMPT here or something...to send me a cover thats a month and a half already. I think he just took my money and run.

If you have not already, try watching Fleabay. I snatched a OEM stylus, battery cover and battery in a package deal from a guy that was parting out a defective phone. Now I have my original cover (in black) and an extra (in red)...

I need to re-dye my black cover. Since my first post on page 1, the edges are slightly purplish (heavy daily use).

Nothing a $1.48 wont fix though

Sprint isnt stupid and probably checks this site on the regular. By now they probably caught on to what was going on and why there was such a demand. With the minor problems alot have had with their TPs, Im sure several have been seen inside sprint stores and such. Just keep trying. At some point somebody is gonna be cool enough to give u one. Good luck
