Excellent writeup darkness! Now, is that picture of your polisher before or after you used it on the dyed cover?

After. only a little bit came off. I used WAY to much dye though. So much that it was clumping up.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

Here's what I'm starting to observe...

I used the liquid dye and ended up having a hard time getting it to go black.

People using the powder end up with black no matter what.

So... let's see:

Powdered dye:
+Shorter dye time
+Great for dark colors
-Requires buffing

Liquid dye:
+Light colors are easier to hit
+No buffing required
-Long soak time with extra heat
-Hard to get pure black

(I was using the powdered dye). After 10-15 more minutes with the stove on it adsorbed all the dye that it could. I also noticed dye clumping around the lenses. I used more dye that the water could dissolve. Should have used the liquid, because I cannot follow directions.
The reason why u couldnt get royal blue is bcuz u used navy blue which is too dark. U cant even really use royal blue to get royal blue. Evening blue is what u needed to get a vibrant blue. I made a huge post about what colors are really needed and the correct dye ratios a while ago. Ill have to find it plus my other posts with pics. All my colors came out like what i needed and i now have 10 different colors and 2 more "blanks"

Excellent! I'm impressed that not much came off. Hopefully sweaty hands won't speed it up =]

as darkness mentioned... using enough dye will dye both sides. i ended up using the whole package, thinking that it would only die the outside, but it def. dyed both sides. looked great.

Well that makes sense, since I started out with a goldish color. There was only two colors of blue at the walmart by my house. I opted for the darker one. Not even sure if they had royal blue. Oh well. Maybe ill see if the sprint store has any spare battery covers and try again.

Man, that scarlet looks great! I'm going to have to buy that color once I can get another battery cover.

I just bought the seidio extended battery plus cover (2,000 mah) and the cover comes black. The touch pro definitely looks better with a black cover thats for sure.
