Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

thank you so much for this. i used the Scarlet powder, came out perfect. no shrinkage at all, no prob with the lens cover, just beautiful. i just one-up'd my cousin with this one, and so he is going navy blue or black tomorrow.

Now THAT's awesome! Personally I prefer Gig' em, but... I applied to UT as well, so there's no harm in that

Sweet! It's nice to know that the rubberized finish will take in color from the rit dye. My only caution would be deforming the plastic in the hot water as some plastics deform easily. Anyone run into issues with that? Looks like it turned out awesome from the pix.

Word of caution, if you are like me and happen to work in a glasses store and have access to lens dye (the ones that they use to turn clear lenses into sunglasses) first apply 2 layers of scotch tape to the clear plastic strip area on both sides. These are probably more "industrial version" of dyes, so the scotch tape will absorb the dye rather than the clear camera holes. But the good thing is that these dyes will not ruin the texture of the plastic, so no need to buff.

Yeah, my cover shrunk quite a bit. When I went to put it on the phone, I thought there was no way it would go back on. But it snapped in place and is a very tight fit. It also eliminated the creaking noise from the batter cover.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

As far as shrinkage goes, mine did nothing. I was hoping for a slight shrink for the battery cover creaking, but the painter's tape trick is working fine.
