I had to wait over 2 weeks b/c it was on backorder, but well worth it.
whoa! an 11/19? dhang!

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

Lock-ups are still around, this is my second Touch Pro too... the first one didn't have this issue, but the earpiece on it was garbage.

Both are a 10/13 manufacture date.

This second one, after about three weeks it started locking up every morning, which is bad because it is my alarm... it's caused me to miss classes and be late for work at least a couple of times now.

S2U2 is installed (but set to not come on while the charger is connected), as well as Klaxon for my alarm.

It freezes if charging face up or face down

Something I've noticed, if I just leave the screen on while it's charging, the chance of it being frozen in the morning is much lower. This last morning, it charged overnight, and was fine in the morning (just about 45 minutes before my alarm would have otherwise gone off). I pushed the standby button to turn it off, thinking it was ok. Woke up again 30 minutes later... found it frozen.

Today screen timeout has been unchecked since the freezes started, with NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER.

An additional note, no programs are installed to the expansion card. The freezes seem to have started BEFORE switching to a 2gb card, instead of the 1gb that came with it... but not by long.

Additionally, I get a lot of complaints from people about me sounding very muffled to them, between the freezes (which is MAJOR) and that, I'll be bringing this one back, too... on to TP #3! Hopefully I get a newer one that the bottom buttons aren't coming up on as well.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

I have the Verizon TP and experienced a freeze-up the first night I had the phone, I've always had Home Timeout disabled... I will try the no sleep mode option...

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

I've had mine for about 2 weeks and I just had it happen last night. I did no app installs or major changes to the phone prior. I unchecked the today timeout option and we'll see how it works.

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

In my personal experience, my last touch pro froze over night after i long pressed the End Key to Lock the device, woke up to a locked but dim screened touch pro

last night my Touch Pro locked up, it was
-not on the charger
-screen was face up and off
-programs on memory card *
made the basic, reg edits, music, banner, tether, txt notf, slide key light off

I don't see those being major changes, as this is my 2nd TP with this problem, last night when it locked up, the correlation was that i set the Long Press End Key to Vibrate the Ringer, woke up in the middle of the night , and no physical button on the touch pro gave it life.. it was like an empty brick (scary)

till you pop out the battery and place it right in, boots like normal. and my alarm went off for me to go to work. Thing is we cant be babying our phone to work while we sleep, something needs to be adressed as i see this being the biggest problem , even on top of the over heating charging issues.

i.e my phone was'nt even on the charger when it bricked itself last night, and it was really cold...

p.s Today timeout makes no difference in this situation as it's been checked off.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

Well, my phone locked up again last night for the first time since I unchecked the today timeout under system settings and "turn device off after" while on external power.

I did notice that I set my alarm to wake me up this morning. I got up in the middle of the night and the LED was flashing like it was charging. I hit the power button and no response. I had to pull the battery out and restart.

Although, I set my alarm the night before last and it didn't lock up while charging. I'm at a loss....

I purchased my phone from Best Buy running the stock ROM with some tweaks and regedits. I've p a ssed the 30 day period so I don't know if I can get it replaced now

EDIT: why does it edit the word p a s s e d??

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

My god.

This thread is bad luck. I've had SIX Touch Pro's, and I've used them all as my primary alarm, and of course, after posting in this thread yesterday, my TP freezes overnight. This is unacceptable. I just woke up an hour late.

I did install a few programs yesterday, like OctroTalk and Fring, but I uninstalled Fring, because it didn't work right... then it didn't uninstall right either.

When I went to sleep, the only things running were ActiveSync for Exchange, OctroTalk, and Batlog, constantly logging. I guess I can see when my phone crashed...

edit: here is my log from last night. It was frozen, (wouldn't wake up,) but clearly it was still working in the background. Sounds like our phones are going into some sort of infinite-loop or something.

edit: nevermind PPCgeeks won't let me attach it.

I also find it interesting that my batterylevel starts out at 30C, and my battery is already fully-charged when I plug it in to go to sleep. It continues to rise to 33.5C throughout the night.

This charging circuit needs some serious attention.

This makes me feel slightly better. Even if I could exchange mine, I don't think I would now. If you've experienced similar problems with multiple TP's. Do you have the flip clock installed?

My theory: it's tied to the clock/alarm somehow.

You misread, you should return, because I have NEVER, EVER had this problem on my other 5 Touch Pros.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

My TP has been doing the same thing. I also experienced this with the Titan and found that letting the phone turn off with the wifi ON caused the problem. I experimented the last two days turning OFF wifi overnight and did not have a problem. I would be interested if any one else is seeing similar correlation between wifi and the phone locking up.
