Sprints matches Big reds TP2 price! (May not work)

i went from the Mogul to the TP for free and without a contract renewal due to the amount of problems i had with the mogul.

Sprint as well as Asurion have plenty of TP1's floating around. I've gone through 5 replacements and probably going on my 6th here soon and I still get them replaced with the TP1. I've talked to numerous people from my local repair shop to Retention escalated managers, and they simply said they can't do anything, they have to replace it with the same product unless they don't have it.

I just bought the TP2 with retention. Here is how it worked for me:

Emailed eCare about matching VZ price, saying I have been a Sprint customer for 10 years now and works for <big corp>.

First one guy replied saying they could match price for corp client and asked me to reply with my billing address to verify that it's me. I replied and 10 hours later a different eCare rep replied to my 2nd mail saying they don't match price...

I was like, WTF?, since the way I read the first guy's reply is that they will do it, and the only thing left is for me to confirm that I actually own the account.

Got on the phone with Retenttion (*2, then 3, then 5 - thanks to someone on this thread). The guy checked my account to make sure I work for <big corp> and said, no problem, he will put in my order and give me credit, so I will see charge of $449+tax and he has put in an adjustment $250, therefore I am getting it for $200 + tax + $18 activation. No rebate.

Already see the charge on my account online, now waiting to get the phone and see that the credit is applied, although he already gave the adjustment request number which he submitted while on the phone with me. Let's see.

I also told him that the fact that the exact same phone can be bought from VZ for about half the Sprint price really made me question my loyalty to Sprint, as the comparison is very clear - same phone, same contract term, same network type (CDMA). He agreed and said his group has been adjusting the price for a lot of people for the same reason.

well, not everyone is going to get this phone for 199. That's the bottom line. It is however worth the try. AND it pays to be polite when calling for a discount.

I am loving my TP2! My friend with a hacked Pre on SERO makes me a little jealous but since the TP2 was 199 I can't complain. Here's a fake email I got from ecare. They even called me to make sure it went through. I was impressed and didn't know what I did to deserve all the attention. I am a SERO F&F 500 person with a good bit of perks on my account.

I have applied the promised credit of $250.00 with applicable taxes of $21.87 on the account against the phone charge. This credit will make the cost of HTC Touch Pro 2 $199.99 with applicable taxes of $17.50. This credit will also reflect on your next invoice dated November 04, 2009.

I got it for $250 before the Verizon thing came out. I got shot down when I asked for the remaining $50. Then I even got shot down when I asked for the $18 activation fee to get removed. That's a first. Probably because I just renewed 3 lines on the account and got $210 credit for that. I'm probably maxed for credits for the year.

I have a Corp account. I had checked the last few days on website and use upgrade. Today 10/5 it says $599-150 upgrade and then $250 instant discount and final $199 with 2 year. Not sure why it had not done that yet, but will wait a day or two and see id wm6.5 comes out

Some people really need less free time. You can go on about what you "know for a FACT" but ya don't. Here's a lil fact I learned long ago and often remind my employees of..."whether you honestly believe something or not makes about zero difference when it comes to whether or not its actually true."

SO, yeah. I talked to three sup's in succession. they were "unsure how I found out about the offer", one was cranky that he'd "just bought this himself for 329" give or take, but all agreed that to apply the coming-in-two-days price wasnt possible in the sense that they cant just change the prices themselves and the amount of credits that it would take to adjust 549 down to 199/no rebate was prohibitive to do immediately and approving that adjustment would take a day or two to process so I'd be just as well off to call back and order in two days.

So I did. I ordered the handset. I got it 20 hours later. You can go on about what you "know", but all I really care about is that I've the phone in my hand, Sprint stood by a reps word for a change (even after further clarification of the policy meant it wasn't applicable to everyone), and by virtue of that action impressed me enough that I felt my business was valued for a change.

It seems to mean an awful lot for ya to derail this thread, whether thats real satisfying to ya or not isnt MY problem, I'm just here to post a (for once positive) Sprint experience and NOT to concern myself with people who swear they magically know just what happened during my *2 conversation. I did my part. Good luck everyone else. With T-Mobile running the TP2 FREE with contract promo up til yesterdayish there's still the potential for more leverage and deals in the future.
