It could be that they are back up again. Service on this IP for the past months has been terrible to say the least, leading us to use Telus.

Regarding using a packet sniffer, this was thrown around a while back before Telus, but no one could find one that had full header information. Could be possible tethered to the laptop?

Regarding other new PDE servers, you can check the settings here for all of the providers. I have only known Verizon and Telus to work reliably (less recently for VZW), and I got Alltel to work a few times. I have never been able to get Sprint or other IPs to work for me.

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Query: I currently have 3.42.50 radio and a custom WM6.5 Rom using BuildOS on my XV6800. My stand alone GPS is working great, but, of course, only receives when I am outside. I want to try Verizon aGPS. Here's my question. If I make the setting changes and it doesn't work, can I switch back to stand alone GPS? Would I do so by merely changing the aGPS registry setting or would I have to reverse the whole process?

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Just disabling agps in the registry should revert you to only standalone gps.

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

I previously did the Valhalla server thing and got my 6800 to start working with my Garmin XT. Then VZW did the lockout thing, so I finally gave up and signed up for VZNavigator and downloaded it, tried it and found it woefully lacking compared to XT.

Then I dropped my phone one day and my 8GB card crapped out. Phone seemed to be OK, but I had the insurance and got it replaced anyway. My backups (SPB) were on the 8GB card, so I had to do a hard reset and start over.

I could not get XT to find sats, even though I was signed up for VZNav. Tried using VZNav for a longer period to see if I could learn to like it. Naw! Never gonna happen!

Finally I loaded Valhalla again and tried it but it wouldn't work until I went in and adjusted the registry settings mentioned earlier in this thread, I think on Post 89, or somewhere thereabouts. It started working again. The Garmin is so much better than VZNav and better than Tom Tom One standalone. The main thing that makes the Garmin XT better than the Tom Tom was better routing. And in my opinion that is why we use GPS, making the Tom Tom One a POS. BTW I am using a "stock" XV6800 with WM6.1. (No cooking).

Edit: These were the settings for Valhalla I used to get it working:

HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode=2 (the original value)
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress=5C8BC6D8 (HEX)
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort=8889

I found them on post 81 actually, but they were copied from an earlier post(not referenced by post number, so I can't give credit were credit is due).

GPS and WM 6.5 21501

Noob question here,
How do you enable GPS for the new WM 6.5 build 21501? Google maps errors out with the "Week GPS signal" even when outdoors. I have tried just about every thing listed to enable on WM 6.1 but it is nothing is working. Just about ready to go back to 6.1 but I thought I might ask if there is a solution.

Thanks in advance

Same desperation and same result! IT WORKS! THANKS!
I'm on XV6800 WM6.1 stock ROM with Valhalla GPS Server.

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

I'm using Telus I.P. in registry and QPST settings, seems to work mostly. Tried verizon last week, worked immediately then never really got a lock again so im avoiding that I.P.
Not sure why above settings works (that hex address is the default settings on the phone ... aka...
DEFAULT REGISTRY SETTINGS:
ServerIP = 195.207.101.206
ServerPort = 7788)
not sure what IP that points to if any at all?

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

I'm confused, and my GPS comes and goes every day or two: What are these registry settings for? What's the path? Can you please post the full link?

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Strange.... my settings posted above are spotty now at best.

Also weird is that I've been traveling lately and without changing any GPS settings here's what I've experienced:

Raleigh, NC - spotty aGPS success (maybe 40% of the time I get a lock).
San Francisco, CA - no locks ever (even dialed *22899)
Dallas, TX - airport stop-over - no locks in the hour I was sitting at my gate
Washington DC - spotty aGPS success, but with a noticably higher rate than in Raleigh (maybe 75% locks).
