re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

yeah apps have no problem, but for some reason, maybe someone can explain because I have had no problems and when confirming the phone shows it's a full root, people say that this isn't a full root and sometimes some ROM's mess up because of it… I flashed Fresh 3.3 and it worked perfect and also themed with riptides… So I don't know what everyone is talking about… and I did it all through Rom manager, which also people say you should use amo_ra… so long story short, I used unrevoked, flashed fresh and themed and deleted all the sprint stuff with absolutely no problems...

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

Does anyone know what I would need to do if I wanted to use the HTC EVO on a private WiMax network?

Re: flash question...

You should reroot, this time the right way. Here is a good link

[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G - xda-developers

You will be able to attain full root with this. If you dont fully root, then (copied from the sticky):
Q. What does Rooting Part 1 only NOT do?
A. If you only did Part 1, and nothing else, then;
It does not allow you to remove OEM installed apps. Like Sprint TV or NASCAR or Sprint Navigation.
It does not allow you to install programs on your sdcard.
It does not allow you to install custom roms.
It does not allow you to install newer radios.

I guess my pushback to this as it is for most unrevoked users is, I don't mind doing it the long way, but all the stuff in the post above I can do. I have and did remove all the sprint stuff, I have flashed a new radio, I have flashed a new rom (fresh to be exact) and I have installed programs on the SD card.... so still my question is why would I do it another way, what's the bemefit when i am doing everything everyone is saying i cant? Same with rom manager, I havent had any trouble with it, yet people say to not use it, i don't understand....

Re: flash question...

Damn it, the OP is making me paranoid. How do I know for sure that I am fully rooted?

On applications I have, some do and some don't have choice to move to SD.

I am on JD's custom rom, and I flashed it via rom manager.

I am able to install apk files that's downloaded to my sd card.

Now, am I fully rooted?

On the side, note, I also got same message on amon RA from the market.

Amonr is not an apk....click the link above that I posted.

The one way to know is if you dl quickboot from the market then try to boot to recovery. If you can't, you aren't fully rooted

Sent from my fast as hell phone that you can only wish you had

I hit recovery from quickboot, it brings me to the screen where I can reboot (or do nandroid, etc) if i hit reboot, it reboots me back to where I was when i first did the backup...is that what it is suppose to do? (sorry...day one "root" noob)

Edit: Problem fixed. Post no longer necessary. Heart attack averted. Root achieved. Proper spelling not.
