Re: Noob Question Evo Flash

I appreciate the fast response. Just to give you an update, I did use the unrevoked method. I put the PC36IMG.zip file (which I didnt have on it, but saw it always tried to mount it) and I then put the evo-recovery folder as well.

Instead of installed the saphire rom, I tried the deoxed rom. I did my wipes again before installing the deoxed rom and my phone didnt get stuck anymore and booted right up with the PPC geeks wallpaper.

Not sure which of those combinations made the difference, but it works now. Any ideas?

I really wanted the saphire rom, i like the status icons better, any pros vs cons on saphire vs the other OMJ roms?

Also is it possible to tether or hotspot in 4g speeds?

"Newest" OTA & 2.2 Root Question

OK...please no flames. I am wondering if one of you nice guys/gals know of one single link, that clearly explains, step x step instructions (for noobs) on how to root the newest OTA/2.2.
What I am hoping to find is a link that does not go to a thread that has 100 pages etc, and covers all areas needed for full root (along with Nandroid, etc)

I am looking for this for my brother who wants to root his EVO, but is struggling with the huge amount of info out there... and I am not really interested in rooting yet, but I told him I would check with some "guys I know"...that know everything

Is there such a "current" link out there?

Thanks

Re: "Newest" OTA & 2.2 Root Question

I rooted and flashed yesterday after I got the evo.

I'm still not sure how exactly I got it, I just remember I was freaking out when it seemed like the phone was frozen.

I some how I got done using the link (rooted)

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...roms-wipe.html

After I got rooted, I just flashed via ROM MANAGER from market place.

Re: flash question...

I'm quite sure that the amon_ra recovery has to be flashed as opposed to being installed as an .apk from the market.

Go search XDA for amon_ra recovery...that should take you on the right path.

Re: flash question...

So the next question is how do you flash it? And is it worth it? Does Rom manager create problems for anyone else? Reason I ask is I'm about to be changing roms a lot to try a bunch of them out like everyone does and i don't want to get caught with Rom recovery screwing up... I want to do it right from the start...

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

Use unrevoked 3.21... people say its not a full root, but is used it and flashed from rom manager flawless... its a one click root...

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

In my "looking" for the perfect "link" WarChild pointed me to this link:
[ROOT] unrEVOked 3.21: one-click root for Froyo, no downgrading - xda-developers

So instead of just getting this to my bro, i did it myself...wow, never thought it could be so easy...one click is basically it...I am IMPRESSED!!

Now i too am rooted, and so is he!

Now to try some the apps that make it all worth while...
