I used simple root with 1.47 worked fine there is the "ota version of simple root"

Im having a problem with step 5S) Now type (do not cut/paste this)
Code:
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/local/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/local/flash_image
/data/local/flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img

it doesnt ever work.........and then when I reboot with the volume down button (Step 5V) after it loads it says
Main Version is Older!
Update Fail
Do you wan to reboot device?
<VOL UP> Yes
<VOL DOWN> No

Skipping a step because it didn't work will never fix the issue. If 5S is not working, the files might be corrupted.

I just unrooted my phone and updated to 1.47 then I rooted it using SimpleRoot.
It really is painless.
All you need is
1 - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
2 - HTC Sync
3 - Make sure your phone is on USB Debug mode.

Then download the simpleroot file.
Unzip it onto your pc and click the "OTA SimpleRoot.exe"
Then just follow the prompts.

Wrong one. Simple 1....3 is for the original evo before the OTA. Notice that thread was created 2 weeks before the OTA.
If you just got a new phone, it most likely has the OTA done.
