C:\>evo-recovery\adb-windows [command]

I use the SDK but I confirmed that path with adb-windows devices and then again with adb-windows remount and both commands worked as they would as if I were running them from the SDK.

OK, but what I type will be different in ADB then it would be if I were using SDK...right? Could you give me the commands to type in the "Window button+R" commands?

Well first lets make sure we are on the same page...I assume since you asked about adb you are trying to figure out which touch sensor you have? If you want to know what screen you have all you need to do is go to Menu/About Phone/Hardware Information. Your screen type 002 or 003 will be at the top.

adb is a tool within SDK so the actual commands will be the same just the path leading up to it would be slightly different.
We both would type:
cmd
in the Run window, then
cd\
to get to a C prompt.
To find out what touch sensor I have, with my device plugged in and USB debugging enabled at the C: prompt I would type:
android\tools\adb shell cat /sys/android_touch/vendor

And you would type:
evo-recovery\adb-windows shell cat /sys/android_touch/vendor

You see the command "shell...." is the same, just how we got there is different.
Hope that helps.

Yea mine is 003, which I think all newer builds are. I want to know if I have a Epson or Nova screen.

I backed up with Rom Manager and with Titanium Backup. Would it be overkill to also do a Nandroid backup?

Ah...notch now, I thought it was 002 meant Novatel and 003 meant Epson but apparently it can vary. Found this:

adb shell dmesg > somefile.txt
it will return you to c:\
type exit
now open the tools folder in windows
find somefile.txt open in an editor like notepad or word
you will see all kinda of stuff....
control f -- search for epson or novatel and whichever you find is the type of screen you have.

Haven't tried it but later tonight.

EDIT:The TOOLS folder is part of the SDK. I ASSUME it would throw the file into whatever folder you have adb in.

You should have at least one nand backup as a failsafe, after that how often you back up is up to you.

Thanks FastRX8, the guide here allowed me to root fully on Saturday. I have been a flashing fool since.

Thanks given.

What are you trying to do?
To get the command window to go click Start/Run then in the Run window type
cmd
That brings up the Command (cmd) window. You will most likely want to type
cd\
to get to a C: prompt.
From there you type the file path to your adb.exe.
Like my example a post or two ago-I have my SDK renamed to Android and stored on my C: drive so my path is
C:\>android\tool\adb [command goes here]

What command are you trying to run?
