re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

adb is a tool within SDK so the actual commands will be the same just the path leading up to it would be slightly different. We both would type: cmd in the Run window, then cd\ to get to a C prompt. To find out what touch sensor I have, with my device plugged in and USB debugging enabled at the C: prompt I would type: android\tools\adb shell cat /sys/android_touch/vendor And you would type: evo-recovery\adb-windows shell cat /sys/android_touch/vendor You see the command "shell...." is the same, just how we got there is different. Hope that helps.

Yea mine is 003, which I think all newer builds are. I want to know if I have a Epson or Nova screen.

I backed up with Rom Manager and with Titanium Backup. Would it be overkill to also do a Nandroid backup?

adb shell dmesg > somefile.txt it will return you to c:\ type exit now open the tools folder in windows find somefile.txt open in an editor like notepad or word you will see all kinda of stuff.... control f -- search for epson or novatel and whichever you find is the type of screen you have. Haven't tried it but later tonight. EDIT:The TOOLS folder is part of the SDK. I ASSUME it would throw the file into whatever folder you have adb in. You should have at least one nand backup as a failsafe, after that how often you back up is up to you. Last edited by iknowsquat; 08-23-2010 at 11:57 AM. |

Thanks FastRX8, the guide here allowed me to root fully on Saturday. I have been a flashing fool since.
Thanks given.

To get the command window to go click Start/Run then in the Run window type cmd That brings up the Command (cmd) window. You will most likely want to type cd\ to get to a C: prompt. From there you type the file path to your adb.exe. Like my example a post or two ago-I have my SDK renamed to Android and stored on my C: drive so my path is C:\>android\tool\adb [command goes here] What command are you trying to run? |
