re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

Forget for the moment what I said about OMJ-we'll come back to that later-when you said ROM 1.7 I thought you meant one of his ROMs. Access your card and remove any files you used during the root process. Save them on your PC. Boot into booloader like I said earlier and check your hboot version. I'm sure it'll say .76.2 or you wouldve seen an error duing the process. Once confirmed I would suggest flashing the ROM from OMJ found here: http://vegasden.net/OMJ/ROMs/PC36IMG.zip When the 1.47 OTA came out (smart for not taking it ) it updated a lot of firmware. That file will get you those updates and keep your root. From there it's your call if you want to stay on that ROM or come on up to Froyo. Any chef will do, I'm partial to OMJ. There are rooted versions of the stock ROM available too. Same exact ROM Sprint puts out just with root access. Like I said earlier OMJ's v1.7 ROM is in the PC36IMG file format so put it on your card and then boot bootloader again and let the device read it. You do want to select Yes for that file.

Next time you are in bootloader look at the top of your screen-the hboot version is up there. It also will say "S-Off" which means Security-Off=unlocked nand. Enjoy! |

All three files are in flashable zip files. Put all three files on your SD card. Enter bootloader-you know how to do that-right? Select Recovery. From there select Wipe-Factory reset and Dalvik cache twice each. Then go back to the main menu and select select zip from SD. Go in the order I stated but DO NOT wipe before the radio and wimax. Follow the instructions including "need reboot to complete installation" Enjoy. |

OMJ does update via ROM Manager. I dont use it but a lot of users do. Downloads can be slow so if you can try via 4G or Wifi. |

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe
Are the tools I need to find out what screen I have already downloaded to my computer from rooting with this method? Or do I need to download Android SDK like it says in the thread about screen type 003?

You will be typing as you did during root: C:\>evo-recovery\adb-windows [command] I use the SDK but I confirmed that path with adb-windows devices and then again with adb-windows remount and both commands worked as they would as if I were running them from the SDK. Quote:
You got it my Friend. Welcome to Froyo To confirm wimax you can type wimax_mtd in adb shell and look for the version #. The most current one ends in a 23. If that's over your head don't worry about it for now. If you flashed wimax and didnt get errorr I'm sure you're fine. Last edited by iknowsquat; 08-24-2010 at 11:59 PM. |
