The October 19th release is from an internal handset sheet my manager read and informed me about. Other than that I don't know what to tell you aside from it matches better with a release pushed back a month and two weeks from the second ( a month for Advocate program and the two week delay? ). Plus, most devices launch on a Sunday and OCtober 19th is, go figure a Sunday. September 2nd is a Tuesday... highly unlikely since Planogram is done on a Saturday for Sunday roll outs.

I'm not debating that the trainings and the release were close together, however my past experiences were Advocates usually get the phone at the latest a month ahead of the release.

PM me your sprint email address and I'll forward it to you.

I think you're missing something major here. How is a Pro with an 8GB card installed in it lesser than a Diamond that can only, ever, have 4 GB? Granted, IF you change out the card on the Pro, you wouldn't have what's on the other card (obviously), but if you, like most people I assume, just install a card and leave it in until you decide you need to upgrade to a larger card, it's the same as having the flash memory hard-wired into the phone, like the Diamond. However, and here's why it's clearly better than the Diamond, when 16 or 32 GB transflash comes out, I can upgrade to that. You'll never have more than 4 GB on a Diamond.

On the other hand, I think I'll prefer the thinner phone and can live with 4 GB, since I still only use 2 GB on my 6700, so I'll be going for the Diamond, but the Pro, with more RAM, the possibility of more flash storage, and obviously the keyboard is not the "lesser" phone.

just my $0.02

Yes, because it would be impossible to photoshop the screen cap and take a blurry picture of the result on your screen

I think you have it completely backwards. It is simple. There is MORE hardware and features in the Touch Pro and therefore it WILL be the same price (because of lack of built in flash) *OR* more likely it will cost the $50 to $100 more than the Diamond because of the built-in Flash, Keyboard, and Video Out. The keyboard itself is enough hardware to jack up the price a little bit.

Personally I would like to see both phones released at the same price and let them be sold solely based on their merits alone, but I don't hold my breath for that one to happen.

Flash memory is SUPER cheap and Sprint could EASILY bundle a microSD card in with the Touch Pro which I could buy 4GB for $17 and a large company buying them a few thousand at a time could easily get a better price direct from the manufacturer. Other forms of flash memory are even cheaper for 4GB ($12).

The touch is $400. The Mogul is $550. The Diamond replaces the Touch. The Touch Pro replaces the Mogul. They should maintain those same pricepoints, maybe less to compete. Sprint is hemorrhaging customers. They need to make this thing cheap for new AND existing customers. This will be their "top of the line" hone for the average joe.

Sending an e-mail with a picture is not MMS. If I don't know what carrier someone is on or what their carrier "thing" is, then I can't send it, and when I recieve an MMS sent from another carrier, I get a text message with a link to get on the internet to view/download the picture.

I'm glad to hear you like the way it works, but it is not MMS.

Re: Launch postponed!!

"Dear Mr. Lecithin,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand that you wish to purchase
the HTC Diamond.

There is a recent update regarding the release date of HTC Diamond. Due to complications with disabling MMS and crippiling the network to prevent this particular phone from even being able to use 3rd party MMS, the release was pushed back by at least a week. From what Executive Support has let us know on Tier I there are also issues with the ROM flash load time taking longer than expected due to the volume of Sprint software being installed to help slow the performance of this phone. Due to these and other internal factors the expected date of the release of HTC Diamond is September 02, 3008 as of now.

If there will be any changes in the release date of HTC Diamond, you
will be informed.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,
Dan H."
