I've been trying for some time to get the Astraware Solitaire game to work with the gx.dll module but haven't been able to get it to work. I also can't get the ROM to build if I replace the module in the kitchen with Astraware's .dll file, so I'm stuck installing the cab to my ExtROM after a hard reset. It sucks, but I haven't found a way round it. Some games just can't be OEMed.
Nah, if it works as a seperate install, there is a way (maybe a really long, difficult, and totally purpose defeating way) to make it work as an OEM. Where does it put gx.dll when you install it to Ext Rom?
Same folder as the .exe, in my case ExtROM\Program Files\Astraware\Solitare\

Astraware's gx.dll is about 12k, the stock Windows version created by the kitchen module is about 6k. So there's extra calls in Astraware's version, but for some reason WM won't work right if I replace the stock module with the file. It's been a while since I tried, so I don't remember the exact error.
Hate to say it, but you're going to have to choose between a) using initflashfiles to copy the files around, or b) using a hex editor to change the dll name in the loading program. Option a) works because the current directory is searched for dlls before \windows is. Incompatible revisions just don't gain much from being OEMed unless you go the hex editor route.

I've update the Optional_WeatherPanel OEM in my ftp with the latest fix for the authorization problem; and, updated radar sites. If you implemented the prior ip redirection fix, you can undo that.

Or, if you don't want to flash again just yet, change HKLM\comm\tcpip\hosts\auth.marsware.net\ipaddr to 44.b2.d3.35

I've also added Optional_PocketCM_KeyboardEN_0.4

First post... just want to say a big thanks for the kitchen. First time ever doing such a full scale mod to the phone and it went very smoothly.

The only issue I seem to be having is with the soft buttons on the today screen. Sometimes the left soft button opens the start menu instead of the calendar. And the right soft button seems to rarely work. (It seems to work in landscape mode, although the left button will do either the calendar or the start menu)

I went to change the soft key settings and the right button was blank. I checked restore to defaults, the phone soft reset, the buttons still don't work properly and now the soft key access is gone in the settings menu.

Anyone else with a similar issue or can think of something I did not install correctly?

Thanks.

edit: the soft key setting option has returned, but the soft key buttons are still not working properly.

We need details.

What OEMs do you have loaded? Whose ROM (what kitchen if yours)? Did it ever work right with the ROM you are using?

I used Helmi's Official 1.04 kitchen. I did this less than 24 hours ago so never had much time to try it out. Don't know if it ever fully worked correctly.

The OEMs I have installed are: HTC camera, Adobe PDF Reader, ClearStorage, Contacts Manager 1.6, HTC Task Manager, PHM Reset, FdcSoft PIM Backup 2.5, Pocket RAR, Smartskey, SoftKey Applet, Task Manager/Registry Editor 2.7, Total Commander, and WM5torage v1.7.5.

Thanks for the help.

Your problem is smartskey. You are seeing different behavior depending on how long you press the softkey button--which is the intended behavior. Smartskey gives you dual usage for both buttons. A quick press does the designated function, while a longer press of the left softkey brings up the start menu and a longer press of the right softkey closes the active window.

If you don't desire that extra funtionality, you can either build a new ROM without smartskey, delete the smartskey shortcut from \Windows\Startup, or edit the smartskey.ini file in the \Windows folder to disable that function (instructions on how to do so are in the file itself).

thanks so much. now knowing that information i figured out how to make them work and open up. is there a list that fully explains all the ins and outs of the various OEMS in the kitchen, or is google my friend on this one?

SBP Weather today plugin text starts white, then goes black

I've experienced this problem with two different roms recently, one based on the 1.0.2, the other based on 1.0.4 so i don't know if it's been a bug in kitchen the whole time and got missed or what. i've searched the bug list but couldn't find this issue. sorry if i missed it.

I install SBP Weather and enable the today plugin. at first install the text is black and unreadable with my background. if i soft reset the text is white and all is well. but it will change back to black if you run a weather update.

i've had the problem on phoenix's 1.0.2 and kirvin's 1.0.4 so i don't think it's either of those builds specifically. anyone have any ideas? i tried to find a reg key or setting to force the text to white but no dice. and all of my other today plugins work fine and show white text. it's just sbp weather...

thanks,
hellbent

edit: did some more fiddling. i have the plugin set for detailed mode. after waking my apache back from sleep mode/off the text is still white. As soon as i press a button in the plugin to check the weather for the next day or somehting, back to black the text goes. argh.

One other symptom of this seems to be that if VJCandela is set up to use the left softbutton, that the button can turn on the flashlight but not turn it off (or I should say turns it off, but then immediately turns it back on).
