I have a stupid question about S2U2. Please pardon my ignorance.

From what I have read, the wallpapers are a couple of JPG's in the install directory, and if I want a custom wallpaper, then I just have to replace those.

Well, if I install it as an OEM in my ROM, does that mean that I have to install my custom wallpapers as a patch in the ROM? If so, I think I'm better off not putting it in my ROM and installing it afterwards. I think I'm likely to want to change my wallpaper more often than I flash.

Of course, I've flashed about 6 times in the last 3 days, so maybe that's not true at all...

It looks like there's a registry setting HKLM\Software\A_C\S2U2\S2U2Path. Could I set this to where my wallpapers are? Or will I break the app if I set that to anything other than the install directory?

Don't take this as a complaint. I'm thrilled with the kitchen and how it works...just trying to make sure I understand things completely.

Yep, but, since all the wallpaper files have to get copied into their final location anyway (\Windows\gfx) you can just copy your files into that location after you flash your rom... or just name the files the same as the ones in the s2ul OEM, and drop them in Patches before you build your rom, and yours will overwrite the rom-versions and get copied into the right place on the hard reset.

Make sense?

Edit: Don't change the registry, that points to where a bunch of images used by S2UL are kept. Including the wallpaper.

I think you should just install S2U2 instead of adding it as OEM ....all the images for S2U2 take up twice the space ...one in \windows and other one in \Windows\gfx ... with the extra space you save, you can add other OEM packages

what i do is i keep all the files that are custom to me....like images and links in my storage card and after a flash or hard reset i just copy/paste them over to My Device path example for S2U2 i would keep my custom wallpaper.jpg in a folder

\Storage Card\BackUp\Program Files\S2U2\gfx\wallpaper.jpg so when it comes time to copy everything all i do is highlight everything in BackUp then copy then paste to My Device ...and your somewhat back to what you had before the Hard reset or flash

If you are handy with a registry editor you can make these changes:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ TRUEFFS_DOC1]
"MountHidden"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ TRUEFFS_DOC1]
"Bootphase"=dword:00000001

Otherwise you need to build another ROM and this time do not put a checkmark in the "Unlock ExtROM" checbox in the "Carrier Customize" section of BuildOS.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the tip. If I build with it hidden, is there a) a way to later unhide it through similar regediting or other method and b) is there a reason I would want to? That is, what can I do with an unlocked extrom?

well with this kitchen the extended rom is not really used ....if you have it unlocked you can backup whats in the Ext Rom to your Storage Card just incase you need it in the future, and use the Ext Rom to store stuff or even install applications onto it ...i have TCPCP .72RC1 install onto my Ext ROM and it works with no problem

I'm having some trouble and cannot figure out what to do or where to find it. I'm trying to run this. I'm on vista and my bootloader is version 2.02. When I have the phone on the today I make the ROM and it starts everything up. It gets all the way to what version the 6700 is running and what will replace it. Next it switches to bootloader, but disconnects from the computer.

This is from way back on Page 9. I cant figure out for the life of me how to do this. I found the 3 types of RUU in the upgrade folder. When I click on the folders, I can only get ROMupgradeut.exe to load. It gives me the first screen, welcoming me to the software update utility. I hit next, and it then checks the info on the 6700. Then it crashes. This exact thing happens with both newbootloader and the plain RUU. When I try to NoID RUU, the only thing I can get to run is APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe. This will go until the screen where it is supposed to say what version everything is on my phone and what it will be upgraded to. However, there are just blanks where this data should be...

Does this make any sense? I'm really confused....

with the exception of those last 2, I think we accomplished them all.

there are a lot of secondary features that snuck in too....
I'm very happy with the latest kitchen package. It looks great, and with it's ongoing improvement and the speed you and Tiermann jump to the issues and fix them, and incorporate our suggestions is truly the best part. Nobody gets this kind of product support from their carriers or HTC for that matter. The latest ROMs are as good, and in many ways better than than we'd ever see coming from the carriers.

You left out a few
offer direct technical support from the programmers
incorporate user feedback to resolve issues
Make it fun! I likea der chef!!!
Helmi, luv2chill, Wideawake, gguruusa, Tiermann, Kolano, and all involved here have done great work, both in the new Kitchen and this site since I became a member. My thanks to all.
