Silly question here. But I thought the EV icon was just the one he used & we do get 3g...

I get the same EV-1x thing when making calls and texting. Im pretty sure the problem is you dont have 3g set to auto. Go into your comm manager, theres an option that says 3g. Make sure its set to auto. The option should look like this when its set properly:
3G
Change to GSM mode. ON
When I turn that setting off I have the cannot connect error. Hopefully you see this before hard resetting and it saves you some time.

LMAO the new stock rom didnt stay on mine more then 30 min's.. its got bugz too! If i need to deal with quirky stuff, I'll use custom!

The easiest way to do it is download the VZV_2.23_WV from this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=90342 and then extract it and run. It will run just like a ROM update but will just load the new radio. It will not effect your current ROM at all. Enjoy.

P.S. I'm loving the new radio too.

Untill they go back to stock on htc & winmo and/or do proper provisioning this will happen. I;m seriously considering grabbing the peices from a developers site & cooking my own. You can't edit what you need to on this because its locked for simple te4xt editing. Grrrrr. I love dis rom demit!

Yeah, EVDO and 3G is the same thing. From what i understand, and i may be wrong, but sprint calls their "3G" service EVDO.

I wrote about this a few pages back but there are a couple "fixes" you can try to get rid of the phantom message notification but in my experience they dont work. I take it that youre using the 12/31 28011 build of the rom because I had the same experience with htc not disabling. If its really a problem you can flash back to one of the older 28xxx builds. I never had this issue before the newest build and HTC disabled completely. I personally like having HTC messaging workable and the message indicator is worth it.

I have never had it happen till the 31st ROM but I am using the 21885. If I just use the HTC messaging with no modifications I don't get the phantom message notification. Then again.... I am unable to use MMS. Maybe in the next ver. or ROM.
