In your 3 flashes, did any of them involve a flash to stock ROM?

Yes, after the second attempt, I flashed a dumped Sprint image. If you think it'll make a difference, I'll try flashing the shipped Sprint image, and then this rom...

BTW, the hanging is 100% repeatable. The hard-end key works about 90% of the time.

Contact management software or any other screen locking app?

Anyone of those apps can affect the dialer in adverse ways.
If you do have S2U2 installed, disable the phone options in it's settings.
If there is any other app installed check it for dialer settings as it sounds like you may have something else that may be trying to control the dialer.

root - you still on the 9/5 ROM? I wonder if there is something in the 9/6 that's creating some of the issues we are seeing. Most of the folks reporting problems also seem to be on 9/6.

Make sure you follow this sequence:
Hard reset Energy, Flash stock, HR THAT ROM, flash Energy, HR (I do 2 HR's of Energy but I'm weird like that)

Did you happen to download the 9/5 version? It would be interesting to try that AFTER a flash to a stock SHIPPED ROM.

Only DL'ed 9/6. I'm DL'ing the shipped Sprint rom now, and will grab the 9/5 as well.

After the Sprint stock rom is installed, can I go right to the Energy rom (after HR) before the stock rom completes it's customizations? IOW, as soon as it says flash complete, HR, then install Energy?

Doesn't matter. Still uses the Tachi dialer. Just tested and no problems.

I don't. I don't even know how to stop the customization. Never tried it. Seriously try the 9/5 version.
