Extract the “PhoneSettings” files to the Windows directory, then reboot. If you get an error that you cannot overwrite those files, reboot your device and try copying them over as soon as it boots back up…it should take.
I would just add one more step after reboot, to look at the file size of \Windows\PhoneSetting.dll If it is 150kb then it took. If it is 397kb, then it didn't take and you should try copying the file immediately after a reboot.

There is also a folder in the zip file with a reg edit that you can import – go into START-TOOLS-TWEAKS-Registry Editor and select the first icon at the bottom of the screen to get to the “Import” option. This reg edit will make the Roaming Option a bit easier to distinguish [“Sprint Only”, “Automatic” default, and “Roam Only”].
oh wow! thank you, THIS FIXED MY GPS ISSUE! for whatever reason i couldnt get the PHONE location setting to turn on, even tho i had my location working. what is the actual key this setting points to?

Special thanks to drdrewdown & Root. Did the flash dance last night. WOW does sprint stick a bunch of bloat ware on this thing!! I forgot just how much after waiting for all that crap to load after my OEM flash. Flashed back to the 11/10 23xx 2.5 build and have been golden since. It's flash dance every time from now on. I thanked both your post.

Crazy that this fixed your GPS issue, but stoked you're back up and running [good to know for future troubleshooting] - all credit goes to SFHUB...this is all his effort.

if anyone can help i flashed my phone and now its initially stuck at the "touchpro" screen when you turn on your phone from a hard reset. no red numbers at the bottom. It keeps turning on and off after a few seconds. I triend hard reseting a couple of time.

The registry that controls the Location Setting UI (the one controlled by PhoneSetting.dll) is here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\oem\PhoneSetting\Locat ionSetting]

However I believe the PhoneSetting.dll is directly handling the values and telling the radio to turn GPS on or off.

If you want to control the GPS options like which A-GPS mode to use then you should look under:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]

The default settings there are also not good for Sprint or probably other CDMA (they are ATT PDE servers), but most of the times you are saved because this entry

"EnablePDEIPFromNV"=dword:00000001

Causes the GPS to get the server settings from NVRAM that your provider provisioned.

If you feel they are wrong (ie your locks are taking too long), you can try setting that value to zero and manually setting the PDE IP server and port. You can see some samples here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...211#post402211

However I don't see anything for US Cellular. Probably need to ask someone on US Cellular to see what they are provisioned with

Getting "My Location" to work doesn't necessarily mean it is using GPS. "My Location" (and HTC Location Services), as best I can tell, likely is asking the radio for CellID information and sending that to Google servers which spit back an approximate location. This means you can have My Location working but GPS not working.

Did you do the flash dance?

Flash Dance: the act of flashing ones phone to an OEM Rom prior to flashing it to the cooler cooked rom.

Quick Edit: I always recommend loading roms from the boot loader screen. To get to it soft reset while holding the vol down and power buttons.

I used to have this problem on many cooked roms until i changed the log file to 0 for both current and backup under gps log file in Advanced config. I also use this little app http://www.turboirc.com/link.php?x=2017 to view the number of satellites. I have found it alot quicker than many of the others for getting an initial fix.

when I had this problem I also found that I had installed a couple of "fixes" previously that was causing the gps to cycle so fast that it could not get a fix or would fix and drop constantly, sounds like you already did this but make sure you did not install any cabs that already modded the GPS.

hope that helps

If you can get the phone back into bootloader, you'll be good to flash again. You can likely reflash the same ROM, or try flashing a stock ROM first, hard reset, then flash back to a custom ROM, and hard reset once more...you should be good.

Try reflashing via SD card.

Three:
The location setting was set to OFF, once i finally got the CDMA phone settings page up, even tho it was ON in the other setting.. It appears they are two different settings? ... So, QGPS couldn't dl...
