yay!!! i went from lurker to noob! never thought i would be happy about being a noob
Should have included that I've done exactly all of the above. I've downloaded the kitchen 3 times to my desktop, extracted there, and my last two attempts were default settings:

Device: Diamond
EXT Build: 6.1
XIP: 21055
SYS: 21055

Again, everything seems to work up until the very end when I get to something like...

NBMerge 2.1rc2
Executing ..\TOOLS\IMGFS\NBMerge with data chunk size = 0x800 and extra chunk size = 0x8
on file OS-new.nb
Partition 0: start sector: 0x00000002, total: 0x0000003e
first used: 0x00000002, used: 0x00000001
Partition 1: start sector: 0x00000040, total: 0x00000640
first used: 0x00000040, used: 0x0000060e
Partition 2: start sector: 0x00000680, total: 0x00010280
first used: 0x00000680, used: 0x00010266
Checking OS-new.nb for bad NAND block marker
Checked 0x10900 sectors successfully!
Done.
executing NBHUtils to build nbh file...
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 28B6-7E60
Directory of C:\Documents and Settings....
Done!!!
File Not Found

Then the page pool changer pops open, but ultimately, the .nbh file is never created. I have noticed the os-new.nb in the temp directory is getting created. Any other suggestions? Please!!!!

I'm not sure what the problem is. I tried making the EXT package and have attached it, but not tested it. I just renamed the background file and fixed the capitalization of png and background. I have no idea if letter case would make it not show up or not. Did you search all files in your kitchen for Background.png?

No I just changed the app.dat file. I figured that would be easier. I will try the file you attached.

EDIT:

I'm glad it worked for you. When you change the app.dat, you also have to rename the .png file in the 'files' folder. So I just renamed background.PNG to Background1.png and updated the app.dat to reflect that. app.dat will move files cooked into the rom (ie in /windows) into the proper folder (\program files\xdaShutdown in this case). It can also rename them in the process (so Background1.png to Background.png).

I changed them there myself but it must be caps sensitive. I looked at my old one and there were caps in a few different places. Thank you very much!

Now I need to find a guide on how to order the start menu in the kitchen so I don't have to do it after I have flashed.

What xml are you referring to? Setting up email, etc...? If i take the time to learn shashimi and get it set up I can't imagine how much more ofter i will be flashing this phone!!! lol

I'm also using Opera 9.7 - I'll switch to 9.5 and hopefully see a speed increase.

Sashimi will restore your email accounts. There is a program installed with sashimi called Makisu that will make an xml for the email accounts you have on your phone. They will be restored when your run sashimi after you flash. HERE's a pretty good guide to sashimi.

I am also a big fan of Sashimi; however, I have not learned how to auto-run sashimi within the flash. Have you found any good step by step guides for setting this up?
